The Titans Drops To 3-10 After Their Loss To The Jaguars At Home

Nashville, Tn – The Tennessee Titans suffered their second division loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in a crushing fashion, 10-6. After leading the first half and most of the second, they failed to close out the game and fall to 3-10 on the season.

Overview

The tale of the tape is the same as previous losses for this Titans franchise.

They led for most of the game behind good defense and a strong run game. Levis started out well for the fifth week in a row. He threw for 89 yards on 9-13 passing in the first half before suffering a shoulder injury.

The second half wasn’t horrible but noticeably lesser than the first half. He was 10-19 for 79 yards passing in the second half.

Offensively, they couldn’t muster up a touchdown despite being in the red zone twice. It marks the first time this season that they have not scored a touchdown in a game.

The defense played well despite having two of their best linebackers inactive. Second-year linebacker Otis Reese IV and sixth-year linebacker Jack Gibbens was given the starts.

Tennessee only yielded 290 total yards on the day, giving up just 70 rushing yards and 220 passing. The frustration of the team was felt in the locker room after such a devastating loss, none more than Jefferey Simmons.

In a very calm but stern voice, he let his feelings be known.

“I’m tired of saying the same (expletive)…this sucks,” he stated. “I’m tired of seeing our quarterback on the damn ground, I’m tired of seeing him squirming on the ground actually. Getting his block knocked off by edge guys.”

This loss dropped the team to 1-2 in the division and mathematically eliminated them from playoff contention this season.

Positives:

The Titans dominated the game for most of regulation, controlling time of possession to the tune of  plus-3:28. They also won the turnover margin after forcing two interceptions on the day.

Negatives:

Tennessee loss their third game against a backup quarterback this season. They also lost the first game this season where they won the turnover margin.

Also, only getting in the red zone twice all game will not help their cause to win  The team is now 1-5 at home this season.
