- AFC Divisional Round Preview – Fair Game - January 17, 2025
- NFL Power Rankings Playoff Edition – New Arrivals - January 9, 2025
The NFL has now shifted into overdrive and the regular season is quickly coming to an end. The AFC playoff race has dwindled down to seven teams in complete control of gaining a spot with positioning being the only thing left to decide. The NFC has a lot more to figure out with a couple of close division races as well as a tight race for the number one overall seed.
Almost all of the teams on the outside looking in will most likely be left out in the cold.
1. Detroit Lions (11-1)
Detroit isn’t even playing in the same league as everyone else. They’re in some kind of hall of fame game mode.
2. Buffalo Bills (10-2)
Imagine playing road games against the Bills in the playoffs. The only destination Buffalo would have to travel to is Kansas City, which wouldn’t pose a problem weather wise to the Bills.
3. Kansas City Chiefs (11-1)
The Chiefs must’ve captured a Genie holding a four leaf clover wearing a rabbit’s foot around his neck.
4. Philadelphia Eagles (10-2)
They Eagles continue to win games and they’re rapidly approaching another division title. It would be their second title in three seasons.
5. Minnesota Vikings (10-2)
The Vikings’ defense has put a cap on their opponents when it comes to scoring. If you can crack 30 points against the Vikings you’ll win the game.
6. Pittsburgh Steelers (9-3)
The Steelers are an organization that seems to always be in the playoffs. They’ve opened a full game lead on Baltimore for the AFC North division with five games to play.
7. Green Bay Packers (9-3)
The Packers could be the best team in the NFC nobody is talking about due to the recent success of other NFC teams. They’re almost assured a playoff spot at this point.
8. Baltimore Ravens (8-5)
The Ravens can’t seem to keep pace with Pittsburgh, but at least they’ll play each other again this season. For a top five offense, they’ve dumped out a couple of subpar games scoring wise.
9. Houston Texans (8-5)
The NFL has suspended Texans line acker Azeez Al- Shaair three games for his hit that left Trevor Lawrence with a concussion. The league has stated that “his continued disregard for rules governing player safety will not be tolerated.” Al- Shaair is appealing the suspension.
10. Denver Broncos (8-5)
At what point do we submit our Sean Payton apology forms after all the crap we talked about him last year?
11. Washington Commanders (8-5)
Washington got back to their winning ways after scoring 40 points or more for the third time this season. They rank fourth in total points scored.
12. Los Angeles Chargers (8-4)
I could say the Chargers can only defeat teams that aren’t any good, but that would be drastic. They did beat Denver and Atlanta, who could be considered good in some circles.
13. Seattle Seahawks (7-5)
Are the Seahawks that good of a team? If you put $100 on them to be a division leader before the season, you’d probably have a nice bit of change now.
14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers(6-6)
Baker Mayfield plays football like he’s indestructible. His heart and determination as well as his gritty approach has Tampa Bay in a good position to win another division title.
15. Indianapolis Colts (6-7)
The Colts will need some help if they want to make the playoffs, but ultimately they will need to win every game left on their schedule,
16. Arizona Cardinals (6-6)
The Cardinals have a great team made up of young talent. I’m sure they’d be awesome when you’re using them on franchise mode in Madden.
17. Los Angeles Rams (6-6)
The Rams have just as good a chance as anybody in the NFC West at making the playoffs. And they’ll play every team in their division once before the season ends.
18. Atlanta Falcons (6-6)
The Falcons master plan of drafting a quarterback of the future to play after Kirk Cousins might have to come into play a bit sooner. Cousins leads the NFL in interceptions thrown and that has led to Atlanta losing games.
19. Miami Dolphins (5-7)
Mike McDaniel and his flashy offensive style has not led to wins in big games and cold games alike. Even with a recent contract extension, McDaniel could be on the hot seat if the team doesn’t finish the season strong.
20. San Francisco 49ers (5-7)
The 49ers season can be summed up with one sentence when you really think about it. That sentence is: “Christian McCaffrey is hurt again.”
21. Dallas Cowboy (5-7)
The Cowboys still have an outside chance at maybe, kind of doing something. According to their fans, Dallas has the league right where they want ’em.
22. New Orleans Saints (4-8)
If you didn’t know the Saints have only won four games, would you be overly surprised the Saints have only won four games?
23. Cincinnati Bengals (4-8)
Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase being on the Bengals is reminiscent of that picture with the Bugatti parked in the driveway of an abandoned house.
24. Chicago Bears (4-8)
Chicago made a valiant effort against Detroit on Thanksgiving, but fell just short of victory. They’ve lost their last three games by a total of seven points.
25. Tennessee Titans (3-9)
The Titans have lost three out of their last four games, and with five games to go and I can’t imagine what they have left to play for. Brian Callahan’s rookie season at head coach has been a disaster.
26. New York Jets (3-9)
The Jets are guaranteed to finish the season with a losing record and that’s with Aaron Rodgers starting every game. The changes they made trying to save their season have all backfired.
27. Carolina Panthers (3-9)
You have to feel bad for Bryce Young after that game on Sunday. He did everything he could to win and Carolina still lost the game.
28. Cleveland Browns (3-9)
In an otherwise terrible season, Browns fans can rely on Jameis Winston for an entertaining game. Who else could throw for nearly 500 yards and four touchdowns, while simultaneously throwing three interceptions, including a game sealing pick six. Good times down there in Cleveland, good times.
29. New England Patriots (3-10)
If Bill Belichick was still in charge, you could see the Patriots targeting Travis Hunter in the draft. They severely lack star power on both sides of the football.
30. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-10)
The Jaguars could be without Trevor Lawrence for the rest of the season after he suffered a concussion on Sunday. Jacksonville has lost five in a row.
31. Las Vegas Raiders (2-10)
The Raiders are well on their way to a top three draft pick. Will they draft a quarterback when the time comes?
32. New York Giants (2-10)
The questions in New York comes down to who exactly they should draft in the top five. They obviously need a quarterback, but is the right guy to lead them forward available?
