Michael Harris II’s Home Run Helps Braves Take First Game Of Road Trip

Atlanta, GA – The Atlanta Braves (76-48) start their six-game road trip with the victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates (47-75), 2-1. Only three batters for the Braves had at least had one hit.

The game started at 8:07 p.m. after an hour and two-minute rain delay.

Braves’ starting pitcher Jake Odorizzi (5-5) pitched 6.0 innings and got the win. Odorizzi allowed four hits and a run, including a home run from Pirates’ shortstop Oneil Cruz in the bottom of the 5th inning. He also struck out seven batters.

Relief pitcher Kensley Jansen recorded his 29th save of the year.

Michael Harris II hit a two-run home run (13) that drove in Vaughn Grissom in the top of the fifth inning. He also walked twice.

Ronald Acuña Jr. was 2-4 with a single and a double. Grissom went 1-3 including a single and a run.

The Braves will continue their road trip on Tuesday as the projected pitchers will be LHP Max Fried (11-4) for the Braves and JT Brubaker (3-10) for the Pirates.
