2025 Los Angeles Chargers Draft Profile

Team Needs: TE, WR, Edge, DL

The first year with Jim Harbaugh at the helm was a general success for the Los Angeles Chargers. If not for some inopportune injuries they could’ve made a run in the playoffs.

Despite that, Harbaugh and company will look to completely make the team over in their image. They made some good moves in free agency and will now put the finishing touches on the roster through the draft.

Possible Targets

Mike Green – Edge, Marshall

Elijah Arroyo – Tight End, Miami

Rylie Mills – Defensive Lineman, Notre Dame

After the release of Joey Bosa, the Chargers have a hole at edge rusher next to Khalil Mack. They should look to add the best player on the board on day one. The defense needs to add more speed on the outside and this draft class has some premium athletes in it.

Marshall edge rusher Mike Green is one of the twitchiest athletes in the class. His 3-cone and short shuttles tested in the 99th percentile and it shows up on tape. Green uses a combination of speed and elusiveness to get around opposing tackles. Pairing him with a jack of all trades like Mack would give the Chargers the pass rush duo they need to compete in the AFC.

Tight end may be one of their biggest needs this year. The offense had no one that could threaten the seams and force defenses to stay honest in coverage. A safety blanket for Justin Herbert is also a must.

One of the best tight ends in the entire class is Miami product Elijah Arroyo. Arroyo has the athleticism, route running, and hands to be a prototype modern tight end. He has the ability to be a big slot or play traditional in-line tight end which is a something Greg Roman can utilize in this offense. Los Angeles should target him and get a 1st-round talent for a day two pick.

The trenches will be a work in progress for the Chargers, but in a draft like this one they can get some premium talent in the late rounds. The defensive line depth is as deep as any group, meaning there will be some impact players available on day three.

Notre Dame has put out some solid defensive players and Rylie Mills is no exception. Mills is a pass rushing master from the interior, evidenced by his 17 career sacks. He is also a solid run stopper with the functional strength to take on double teams to clog holes. Harbaugh could get an instant starter late in the draft class to solidify the defensive front.

As the 2024 season showed, the trenches are as important as any unit in football. The Chargers can really capitalize on their deficiencies in this draft and become a true contender in the league.
