2025 Buffalo Bills Draft Profile

Team Needs: DL, CB, Edge, Safety

The Buffalo Bills yet again got to the threshold of the Super Bowl and couldn’t open the door. The team has one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL in Josh Allen, and will need to build up the team around him more.

The offense can score with anyone but the defense has gotten older in key areas. The 2025 draft is a defense heavy class and is perfect for team that needs to address that side of the ball.

Possible Targets

Xavier Watts – Safety, Notre Dame

Tyleik Williams – Defensive Tackle, Ohio State

Alijah Huzzie – Defensive Back, North Carolina

One of the Achilles heels of Buffalo’s defense last season was their secondary. Their depth behind the starters was scarce and showed up in the playoffs in a real way. The team will need to address their depth issues and also look to upgrade some positions in the draft.

The safety position was one of the positions that plagued the Bills in 2024. Taylor Rapp was the best safety on the roster and Demar Hamlin was serviceable, but they can find an upgrade in the draft. Notre Dame’s Xavier Watts is the best centerfield safety in the draft class. Getting him in the late first round would allow the Bills to play more free as a unit due to his ability to take away the deep ball. Rapp plays well when in the box and roaming the short to intermediate areas of the field. Watts would maximize the skill sets of the entire secondary and raise the floor of the entire defense.

The defensive front of the Bills is stout but they have some issues with depth. Of the starters, DaQuan Jones is the oldest at 33-years old and is on the backend of his career. Buffalo can get a quality replacement and floor raiser on day two of the draft.

A player that fits the mold of a Buffalo defensive lineman is Ohio State’s Tyleik Williams. Williams is a space eater who has the skill to develop into a plus pass rusher from the interior. Williams possesses light feet and heavy hands, slipping gaps to get into the backfield. When he gets doubled he shows the ability to anchor and shed to create chaos at the line of scrimmage. Williams could end up starting early or being a high-end rotational lineman that will eventually takeover next to Oliver.

As previously stated the Bills need to get depth in their secondary. Day three has plenty of targets and they could take one of the most versatile players in the class.

Alijah Huzzie has the ability to play both cornerback and safety at the NFL level. During his time at North Carolina he played all over the secondary displaying his playmaking ability. He also showed up as a returner on special teams adding to his value. Huzzie could come in and immediately make an impact on defense for team on special teams while also providing a quality depth piece at multiple positions.

A strong draft could help the Bills get over the hump and finally capture that ever elusive Super Bowl berth. They could find the player or players that finally open the door for them to bring their first Lombardi to Orchard Park.
