The Cleveland Cavaliers have signed Forward Kevin Love to a four year, $120 million dollar extension. Love opted out of the final year of his previous five year deal, where he was scheduled to make $113 million total. By opting out he will earn $24.1 million next season before his new extension kicks in.

Cavaliers Owner Dan Gilbert and GM Koby Altman have maintained their stance, to keep the Cavaliers competitive even after the departure of Lebron James.

Dan Gilbert says he is proud to extend Love…

“The Cavaliers franchise is proud to extend five-time All-Star and NBA Champion Kevin Love four additional years. Kevin Love has been nothing but class since he arrived in Cleveland in 2014. We look forward to his leadership and the exciting years ahead. We grind every day. Just like CLEVELAND.”

GM Koby Altman issued the following statement…

“We are very excited to announce Kevin’s long term commitment to the Cavaliers and Cleveland,” GM Koby Altman stated. “This quickly became a partnership the second we began these discussions. Collaboration and winning mattered greatly to Kevin and that was reflected in this extension.”

“Kevin’s talent and character are both at a very high level and he has earned his role at the center of what we want to do moving forward. As a five-time All-Star and NBA Champion, Kevin has a special understanding of exactly what success and winning require.”

Kevin Love says he looks forward to the future with his new teammates…

“When I first came to Cleveland, I came with a long-term mindset,” Love said. “I came here to win. We developed a culture here that reflects that. I’m super excited and I couldn’t be happier.”

“It’s a big commitment for me and it’s a big commitment from the Cavaliers. So I want to thank Dan Gilbert, Koby Altman and the entire organization. I enjoy playing here, I’m excited about the team that we have and look forward to our future together.”

Kevin Love, 29, last season averaged 17.6 points, 9.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. Over his 10 year career he has averaged 18 points and 11 rebounds.
