Historic Night For Spencer Strider Gives Atlanta The Win

Atlanta GA – The Atlanta Braves (81-51) close out the series against the Colorado Rockies (56-76) in a 3-0 shutout victory.

Braves’ starting pitcher Spencer Strider (9-4) earned the win. He set a career-high of 16 strikeouts and allowed two hits through a career-high 8.0 innings pitched.

Strider’s 16 K’s is now the Braves’ franchise record for most strikeouts in a game. He also has the most strikeouts in the Major League this season.

Austin Riley went 2-4 including a solo home run (33) in the bottom of the fourth inning. Riley has hit a home run in two straight games.

Michael Harris II hit a solo home run (14) in the bottom of the fifth inning and Dansby Swanson hit a single that drove in Vaughn Grissom.

The Braves will continue to play at home as they begin a series against the Miami Marlins on Friday. The starting pitchers will be RHP Charlie Morton (6-5) for the Braves and RHP Sandy Alcantara (12-6) for the Marlins.
