Braves Give Up 12 Runs In Season Finale

Miami, Fl – The Atlanta Braves (101-61) finished their regular season with a 12-9 loss to the Miami Marlins (69-93).

Jackson Stephens pitched 3.0 innings and allowed three runs on five hits and two walks. Jesse Chavez allowed four runs, three hits and a walk in 0.1 innings pitched.

Marcell Ozuna went 3-5, including a home run (24) that drove in William Contreras and Matt Olson. Olson also had a home run (34) that scored Vaughn Grissom.

After being up one run in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Braves gave up five runs leading to a Marlins’ 10-6 lead. The Marlins gained two more runs after a two-run home run by Peyton Burdick in the bottom of the seventh inning.

In the top of the ninth inning, Contreras hit a double and Ozuna hit a single. After a walk from Robbie Grossman, Contreras scored off of Guillermo Heredia’s single.

Marlins’ reliever pitcher Dylan Floro struck out Grissom to end the game.

The Braves will await the winner of the Wild Card matchup between the Philadelphia Phillies (87-75) and the St. Louis Cardinals (93-69) in a best-of-three series.
