2025 New York Jets Draft Profile

Team Needs: Tackle, Edge, DL, CB

The New York Jets are back to the drawing board in 2025 after failing the Aaron Rodgers experiment. The team is now looking to reset a the roster under a new head coach and revamped front office.

The 2025 NFL Draft will be pivotal to the building of their roster and infusing the hard-nosed talent they need.

Potential Targets

Kelvin Banks Jr. – Tackle, Texas

Landon Jackson – Edge, Arkansas

Omarr Norman-Lott – Defensive Lineman, Tennessee

New York needs to address their trenches for the team to be successful. New coach Aaron Glenn is coming over from the Detroit Lions so he knows how important the trenches are to wins.

The first position of need is the offensive tackle spot. The Jets did not retain Morgan Moses or Tyron Smith so there is a hole there. Getting another young bookend tackle to play next to 2024 first-round pick Olu Fashanu would be a smart move.

Kelvin Banks Jr. out of Texas is as well-rounded a tackle as any in this year’s draft. He plays well in both run and pass blocking sets with good functional strength.

He is a natural left tackle but could shift over to the right side to allow Fashanu to solidify the left. That would be a similar strategy to what the Lions did with Penei Sewell, which has worked out phenomenally.

Part of Glenn’s defensive scheme is getting big and versatile edges that can be effective at all levels of the defense. There are plenty of options available for the Jets on day two and Landon Jackson could be there for them.

Jackson is a large human being standing at 6’7” and weighing in at 270 lbs. He has the explosive athleticism to drop into coverage as well as beat opposing tackles around the edge.

The most underrated portion of his game is his run defense which is bolstered by his length. New York would get a major upgrade at edge rusher and a perfect running mate for Will McDonald IV.

The defensive interior needs to be reinforced and Glenn could add bodies to enhance his rotation. Derrick Nnadi was signed as the starter but they could use the depth.

Omarr Norman-Lott from Tennessee fits perfectly next to both Nnadi and Quinnen Williams. Norman-Lott’s strengths are eating up space and stopping the run, which would pair well with the two more proficient pass rushers the Jets have in the middle.

His skillset is goof for early downs and goal line sets where you need a little more heft up front.

New York has a lot of trench work they have to attend to this offseason and the NFL draft is a great place to focus on it. This team is looking to form a new identity and they could shape it behind one of the best fronts in the NFL.
