2025 New York Giants Draft Profile

Team Needs: QB, CB, Tackle, WR

What happens when a team has playoff potential and one of the best coaches in the league but underachieves? The 2025 New York Giants!

After a good 2024 NFL Draft, New York is looking to build on what could be a strong foundation. Owner John Mara has expressed his dissatisfaction in the front office and coaching staff, which could warm their seats up quite a bit. The NFL draft could be the best way to cool those seats and buy themselves another stint in the Big Apple.

Shedeur Sanders – Quarterback, Colorado

Demetrius Knight Jr. – Linebacker, South Carolina

Jalen Royals – Wide Receiver, Utah State

There has been a lot of talk about the Giants trading up to the top spot in the draft but they may not have to. The draft has a funny way of working out in your favor when you wait, and New York will be no different.

Abdul Carter may be the second pick in the draft after the Tennessee Titans possibly take quarterback Cam Ward, and the Giants will have their quarterback fall in their lap.

Shedeur Sanders is a perfect fit for New York. His attitude, skill and work ethic are larger than life and is the box office draw this team has been missing.

Sanders will be an immediate impact as his skills lend themselves to playing with receivers like Malik Nabers, Jaylin Hyatt and WanDale Robinson. He has the arm arrogance to thread the needle and experience in leading teams. New York will get their newest franchise changer and not have to sell the farm to do it.

Outside of the offensive holes, the Giants have needed a leader in the middle of their defense for a while. Thinking back to those Super Bowl teams, they had Antonio Pearce in the middle and this front office needs that kind of guy.

Shane Bowen’s scheme calls for a special athlete at inside linebacker and Demetrius Knight Jr. fits that mold. He shows great burst and trigger when coming downhill against the run, while also being able to diagnose and drop in coverage. He was also lauded for his leadership at South Carolina and should carry that over into in the NFL.

The offense of New York has been trying to find an alpha for a while and they finally did in Nabers last year. His emergence as a true number one was more of a matter of when, and the Giants now need a No. 2 next to him.

Enter Jalen Royals, a player with big-time stud written all over him. Royals is a power player at the receiver position, bullying his matchups with physicality rather than finesse like Nabers. He can effect the game underneath but also make the splash plays that give opposing defenses fits in today’s NFL.

Pairing him with Nabers would give New York a potent 1-2 punch for their new quarterback and solidify their offense for years to come.

The Giants have a huge task ahead of them but not an impossible one. A draft class like this will put them squarely in the conversation for the NFC East and may see them return to the ranks of the contenders.
