2025 Cleveland Browns Draft Profile

Team Needs: Edge, CB, HB, WR

There was a growing sense of optimism in Ohio after the Cleveland Browns made the playoffs in 2023. Fast forward a year and the team had a rash of injuries that saw them end with one of the worst records in the NFL, which awarded them the No. 2 overall pick in the draft.

Cleveland’s biggest concern is rounding out a roster that is too heavy with limited cap space. The NFL Draft is the only way they can build the roster and get meaningful impact players.

Abdul Carter – Edge, Penn State

Tre Harris – Wide Receiver, Ole Miss

Caleb Johnson – Halfback, Iowa

Cleveland locked up their best player in Myles Garrett to a long-term deal early in the offseason. The one thing that he hasn’t had in his career is a true counterpart on the other side of the line, but they can get that here.

Abdul Carter is as versatile a defensive player as any you’ll find. He excels at getting to the quarterback and not just off the edge, but from anywhere on the field.

Pairing him with Garrett would open their defensive scheme and make it even more potent as they expose mismatches. Many believe drafting a quarterback would be a better move but with Deshaun Watson and the offseason additions, it wouldn’t yield more impact than Carter.

The wide receiver position has been a need for the Browns for years. They have tried band-aids but none have stuck to this point. They need to find a long-term solution for this problem.

Tre Harris is a the prototype NFL wide receiver standing 6’3” 210 lbs. He possesses the speed and strength to challenge boundary defenders on every level of the field and be a reliable target. He would be a perfect complement to incumbent receiver Jerry Jeudy.

Nick Chubb is a legend in Cleveland but he is a free agent with no sign of returning to the team. Getting a younger, multi-tool back should be a priority for an offense that has flourished with a strong presence in the backfield. Snatching up Caleb Johnson would be a steal for the Browns on day three.

His burst and ability to hit the home run would be a great addition for a team that needs a new feature back.

The draft could be the catalyst of a new look era for the Browns. If they make the right moves, Cleveland could find themselves right back in playoff contention.
