2025 Chicago Bears Draft Profile

Team Needs: Tackle, Edge, HB, LB

The Chicago Bears started the process of revamping the franchise last season as they took their future in Caleb Williams. They now have taken the next step after hiring high-powered offensive coordinator Ben Johnson as their head coach.

After a great start to the offseason that saw them completely upgrade parts of the team, they will prepare to add quality players in a layered NFL Draft.

Possible Targets

Mykel Williams – Edge, Georgia

Dylan Sampson – Halfback, Tennessee

Kobe King – Linebacker, Penn State

Johnson knows what a strong team looks like after his tenure with the Detroit Lions. Part of why the Lions were so good is because of their tenacious pass rush led by young stud Aidan Hutchinson. The Bears could look to add a stud of their own early in the draft.

The Georgia Bulldogs have been putting NFL-ready talent in the league for years now and Mykel Williams will not be any different.

Williams is a force off the edge and he is able to play in multiple fronts while still being effective. His run defense is underrated but he finds ways to blow up plays in the backfield routinely.

Pairing Williams with a similar type player in Montez Sweat would give Chicago a duo that can destroy opposing offensive lines week in, week out.

Part of Johnson’s offensive scheme is his ability to run the ball often and effectively. The talent on the Bears roster is serviceable at best and they will need to find that coveted “feature back” to make this offense go.

One such player in the draft is Tennessee’s Dylan Sampson. Sampson is the perfect blend of speed and power with the ability to stay on the field for all three downs. His 22 touchdowns led the SEC and was good for fourth in the nation. Sampson is also just 20-years old and hasn’t tapped the upper limits of his abilities.

Linebacker depth is an issue for the Bears at this juncture of the offseason. They have a strong presence in the room with veterans Tremaine Edmunds and T.J. Edwards but they have a lot of lower tier talent around them.

Being able to get a high upside linebacker with athletic traits would be ideal. Penn State’s Kobe King is just that and he has the polish to make an impact early. King is an elite run stopper with good upside in coverage. He can easily compete with players like Noah Sewell and Swayze Bozeman for snaps and a starting spot.

Chicago has their work cut out for them. Ben Johnson has the blueprint for success and now has to execute it. If he does, this team could be competing for a playoff spot this season.
