New coaching staff and new hope are what you can expect in the Big Easy in 2025. The New Orleans Saints have a rich history and will look to add to it as they go forward this offseason.
The Saints have been one of the teams in the league that struggle in the NFL Draft but that could change this year. A wealth of talent can be found for this team and the draft is their oyster.
Possible Targets
Tetairoa McMillan – Wide Receiver, Arizona
Princely Umanmielen – Edge, Ole Miss
Bilhal Kone – Cornerback, Western Michigan
One thing we know about a Kellen Moore offense is that they will want to throw the ball around the yard. The Saints have a good No. 1 wide receiver in Chris Olave and a solid deep threat in Rashid Shaheed but they need another player to round out the room.
It would be hard for New Orleans to pass up on a player like Arizona’s Tetairoa McMillan. The 6’5” 210 lbs specimen is the clear-cut top receiver in the class and has all the attributes to be a future All-Pro. Pairing him with Olave would give the Saints a legitimate 1a-1b combo that can contend with any secondary in the league.
The Saints also need to replenish their defense after losing multiple pieces to free agency. The edge and cornerback positions are their biggest holes and should be the focus throughout the remainder of the draft.
New Orleans has good players but none that are dominant pass rushers. They can fix that with Ole Miss edge rusher Princely Umanmielen.
His ability to collapse the pocket with power and redirect the path of runners makes him a great option as a 3-4 outside linebacker. He has the tools to develop into a Pro Bowl-caliber edge rusher and fortify the position for the Saints going forward.
Another player they could target is cornerback Bilhal Kone. Kone plays press man as well as any player in the class, displaying smooth hips and mirror ability. His long frame lends itself to playing outside against bigger receivers.
Adding him to the defense would allow the Saints to move Alontae Taylor to his best position at nickel and field 6-foot corners.
The good times can roll once again in New Orleans if they can come out of this draft with good talent. The team is in a transition phase but their division isn’t the toughest and the playoffs aren’t too out of reach.
An effective draft class can get them back in contention sooner rather than later.
