The Titans Grab The Texans By The Horns In Big Week 12 Victory

Houston, Tx – In what was a major AFC South clash and NFL rivalry, the Tennessee Titans got a resounding victory over the Houston Texans. Tennessee came into the game 2-8 and took down the surging Texans at home 32-27.

Overview

The Titans started the game hot and did not let up off the gas in the first half.

Will Levis played his best game as a starter this season and it began early. Levis started the game 11-11 for 171 yards and two touchdown passes. He had success early, finding Nick Westbrook-Ihine on a 38-yard pass up the seam for his first touchdown of the game, foreshadowing the game he would have.

Levis ended the game with 278 yards on 18-25, two touchdowns and an interception.

He wasn’t the only one who had a good game as Tony Pollard, Calvin Ridley, and Chig Okonkwo all showed up against Houston.

Pollard had 129 total yards and a touchdown on the day. Ridley had 93 yards, his second best performance of the season. Okonkwo scored on his lone catch that went for 70 yards. The offense did have its hiccups, giving up two turnovers but still found a way to pull out the victory.

The defense played like men possessed.

The front seven was in Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud’s face all day, causing havoc. Stroud was forced into some tough throws, which made the Texans’ down-and-distance average on third down 9.2 yards. The defense forced two turnovers on Stroud’s interceptions.

Part of the reason the defense was so stout was their rush defense. The Titans held Houston to just 40 yards, making it difficult for the Texans to stay ahead of the sticks.

Rookie defenders Jarvis Brownlee Jr. and T’Vondre Sweat had milestone days respectively. Sweat got his first sack of his career on a key third down in the second half. Brownlee Jr. also got his first career interception.

Positives

Tennessee was able to overcome adversity and their second half woes. They held the lead in the first half, scoring 20 points and added 12 points in the second half to close out the Texans.

They totaled 369 yards as an offense in what was the most well-rounded game this season. They also scored 30-plus points for the second time this season, which was the first time that has happened since 2021 where they did it five times.

Negatives

Special teams is still an issue for the Titans. They gave up 236 return yards, including an 80-yard opening kickoff return that set up the Texans first score.

Third down wasn’t the best today as they only converted on 4-14 of their attempts.
