- NFL Power Rankings Week 12 – The Reimagining - November 20, 2024
A season turned upside down might be a stretch, but this NFL season (like most seasons) has not gone as expected. Now we know certain teams just don’t have enough and there are more teams in the mix than we previously thought.
There’s dominant performances every week, but is there a dominant team?
1. Detroit Lions (9-1)
I just finished asking is there’s a dominant team in the NFL and the only team that comes close to being a yes is Detroit. They’ve won eight games in a row and they’ve now scored 50 or more twice this season.
2. Buffalo Bills (9-2)
Buffalo has handled Kansas City in their recent matchups during the regular season. They now have a legitimate claim as the best team in the AFC, but it all comes down to what they can do in the playoffs.
3. Pittsburgh Steelers (8-2)
Pittsburgh has pushed their win streak to five games after a tough game against Baltimore. They’ll play Cleveland, Cincinnati and then Cleveland again in their next three games. We could be looking at an eight game streak by then end of that stretch.
4. Kansas City Chiefs (9-1)
The Chiefs have found plenty of ways to win games this season, some more unbelievable than others. They couldn’t find a way against Buffalo.
5. Baltimore Ravens (7-4)
Baltimore just can’t get right when it comes to playing Pittsburgh. They’ve now lost four games in a row against Pittsburgh, averaging 12.2 points per game in those contests.
6. Washington Commanders (7-4)
Washington leads the NFC in total yards from scrimmage. They have the least amount of turnovers in the conference as well.
7. Philadelphia Eagles (8-2)
Saquon Barkley leads the NFC in rushing yards with 1,137. He’s only second on his teams in rushing touchdowns however, due to the fact he’s had a plethora of rushes that have ended at the one yard line and the next play is usually a Jalen Hurts “tush push” touchdown.
8. Minnesota Vikings (8-2)
After their two game hiccup, the Vikings have won three games in a row. They’re ranked fourth in total points allowed.
9. Green Bay Packers (7-3)
Green Bay’s dominance over Chicago continued this weekend after the Packers snagged their fifth game in a row against the Bears. The Packers lead the all-time series 108-95-6.
10. Arizona Cardinals (6-4)
The first place Cardinals come off their bye week trying to extend their winning streak. They’ll head to Seattle and then Minnesota in their next two games.
11. Houston Texans (7-4)
The Texans have a full two game division lead over Indianapolis and they’ve already swept the Colts in the season series. They have a 3-0 record against AFC South teams.
12. Los Angeles Chargers (7-3)
The solid play of Justin Herbert gives the Chargers a chance to inflict real damage to each of their opponents. The problem is their lapses on defense and them getting away from running the football from time to time.
13. Atlanta Falcons (6-5)
The Falcons have two wide receivers in the top ten in receiving yards with Darnell Mooney and Drake London. If you throw in everything else they have on offense, there’s no way they should have games where they’re only scoring two field goals.
14. San Francisco 49ers (5-5)
San Francisco snapped a two game winning streak and lost another division game. They are 1-3 against the NFC West this season.
15. Denver Broncos (6-5)
The sneaky Broncos are climbing the standings without getting enough credit. If they can get consistent on offense they could turn into a legitimate threat when the playoffs roll around.
16. Cincinnati Bengals (4-7)
It’s just hard to imagine the Bengals sitting here so deep into the season with a losing record. It seems they’re more unlucky than they are untalented, or getting out coached.
17. Chicago Bears (4-6)
Chicago’s losing streak has reached four games and their scoring woes continue. They’re averaging 11.5 points per game during that stretch.
18. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-6)
The Buccaneers come off of their bye week to take on the Giants, followed by Carolina and then Las Vegas. They can’t say they didn’t have a chance to turn their season around with that schedule.
19. Seattle Seahawks (5-5)
The Seahawks are 2-4 when they have multiple turnovers. They rank 26th in the NFL with 16 turnovers on the season.
20. Indianapolis Colts (5-6)
The Colts snapped a three game losing streak, but they’re still allowing a bunch of points. They’re allowing 25.2 points per game over their last four.
21. Los Angeles Rams (5-5)
The Rams have won four out of five since their bye week. They’ve forced 11 turnovers during that stretch.
22. Miami Dolphins (4-6)
Tua Tagovailoa leads the NFL, completing 73.4% of his passes. The Dolphins are averaging 27.7 points per game since he returned from injury.
23. New York Jets (3-8)
The Jets have fired general manager Joe Douglas. They can’t make any trades or major decisions until the offseason, so firing Douglas might clear up a parking spot and some office space at this point.
24. Dallas Cowboy (3-7)
If you believe in alternate universes where everything is the same except for a few small differences, then you have to believe Dallas isn’t any good in any one of those universes, either.
25. New England Patriots (3-8)
The Patriots rank 30th in total points scored and 31st in total yards from scrimmage. They’ll be growing pains with a rookie quarterback this season, but they’ll have to upgrade the skill position players going forward.
26. Carolina Panthers (3-7)
Carolina comes off of their bye week to face Kansas City followed by Tampa Bay.
27. New Orleans Saints (4-7)
The Saints have gotten back to to their scoring ways lately. They’ve won two games in a row and they’re averaging 27.5 points per game during that streak.
28. Cleveland Browns (2-8)
The Browns average 16.2 points per game which is the worst in the AFC. They’ve lost two in a row, averaging 12.0 points per game during that stretch.
29. Las Vegas Raiders (2-8)
Brock Bowers is second in the NFL (first amongst tight ends) with 70 catches and he’s 10th in receiving yards with 706. I think he is a strong rookie of the year candidate that we aren’t talking enough about.
30. Tennessee Titans (2-8)
Tennessee seems to be well on their way to having high draft pick and a lot of holes to fill. What would they even do with a first overall pick other than trade down?
31. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-9)
It’s almost like the Jaguars are the team you compare yourself to show you aren’t a bad team. “Well at least we aren’t Jacksonville.”
32. New York Giants (2-8)
The Giants are benching Daniel Jones this week and will start Tommy Devito for the foreseeable future. It’s always hard to admit you’ve made a mistake, but at least they’re starting to realize it now.
