- NFL Power Rankings Week 12 – The Reimagining - November 20, 2024
Trying to figure out this 2024 NFL season is comparable to solving a math equation. There are a few at the top, a few at the bottom and a ton of teams right in the middle. Some of the teams in the middle look like they could possibly do something positive by season’s end, while history shows us one of those top teams will fall on hard times.
One of those teams you think will be in the Super Bowl won’t make it and a few of the teams you thought would be in the playoffs will fall short.
1. Detroit Lions (8-1)
Detroit might be the the team with the most grit and toughness in this era of football. They’ve got the talent to back that toughness up as well.
2. Kansas City Chiefs (9-0)
The Chiefs have won every kind of way you can win a game this season. It’s like wrestling the Undertaker in the late 90s: a recurring nightmare of thinking you’ve got somebody beat and then you lose.
3. Pittsburgh Steelers (7-2)
The Steelers are 1-2 when they allow 20 points or more. They rank second in the NFL in total points allowed.
4. Baltimore Ravens (7-3)
The Ravens’ offense ranks number one in both total points scored and total yards from scrimmage. Lamar Jackson has 24 touchdown passes and only two interceptions so far this season.
5. Buffalo Bills (8-2)
The Bills might win the AFC East by this weekend. Okay it might not be as early as that, but it’s almost a foregone conclusion who the winner of that division is.
6. Washington Commanders (7-3)
Washington had their three games winning streak snapped. The last two times they’ve lost it was by a total of eight points.
7. Philadelphia Eagles (7-2)
The Eagles have creeped their way back up into the upper echelon of the NFL. They’ve won five in a row since their bye week.
8. Minnesota Vikings (7-2)
Minnesota barely got out of the game against Jacksonville with a win. They’ve turned the ball over six times in their last two games.
9. Green Bay Packers (6-3)
Green Bay comes off of their bye week to face the Bears in Chicago and then San Francisco at home.
10. Arizona Cardinals (6-4)
Arizona has won four games in a row and they are allowing an average of 14.2 points per game during that stretch.
11. Houston Texans (6-4)
The Texans have struggled in their last two games, scoring an average of 18.0 points per game. They rank 17th in total points scored this season.
12. Los Angeles Chargers (6-3)
The Chargers have won three in a row, allowing an average of 11.6 points per game during that stretch. They are allowing 13.1 points per game overall this season.
13. Atlanta Falcons (6-4)
The Falcons enjoy dropping the ball in key games. A win against the Saints would’ve put their division far in their rearview. Now they’ve kept themselves closer to the middle of the pack, even though they’re the division leader.
14. San Francisco 49ers (5-4)
Christian McCaffrey came back off of injury to record 107 total yards from scrimmage against Tampa Bay. Could he be the missing piece to the 49ers’ offense?
15. Denver Broncos (5-5)
Denver is like most NFL teams right now, being great on one side of the football while the other side hasn’t caught up. They have a top level defense, but a lackluster offense.
16. Cincinnati Bengals (4-6)
Joe Burrow threw for over 400 yards and four touchdowns and the Bengals got a huge game from Ja’Marr Chase, but they still lost the game at the end. Five of their losses were one score games at the end.
17. Chicago Bears (4-5)
The talk of whether or not the Bears should continue to play Caleb Williams is pretty ridiculous at this point of the season. Especially when you don’t have a seasoned veteran for a backup.
18. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-6)
The Buccaneers are currently on a four game losing streak and they’re allowing an average of 31.2 points per game during that span. They’re ranked 28th in total points allowed.
19. Seattle Seahawks (4-5)
After their bye week, the Seahawks will head to San Francisco to take on the 49ers and then Arizona at home.
20. Indianapolis Colts (4-6)
The Colts have lost three games in a row and they’re averaging 17.6 points per game during that stretch. They rank 18th in total points scored.
21. Los Angeles Rams (4-5)
The Rams have some great pieces on their roster, but there are too many holes for them to be a serious contender.
22. Miami Dolphins (3-6)
Miami still has an outside chance at making the playoffs, but they have no margin for error. They’ll have some tough matchups coming up soon.
23. New York Jets (3-7)
The Jets are currently ranked 26th in total points scored. The six points they scored on Sunday marks the second time they’ve failed to reach double digit points in game this season.
24. Dallas Cowboy (3-6)
It’s starting to seem like Mike McCarthy’s job is not only in jeopardy, but it’s slowly approaching the sunset strip right now.
25. New England Patriots (3-7)
The Patriots snagged their third win of the year by allowing their lowest point total of the season. They’re allowing an average of 11.6 points per game in their victories.
26. Carolina Panthers (3-7)
Carolina getting to three wins seemed far fetched a few weeks ago. Now all of a sudden they’re still terrible, but there are a bunch more teams that aren’t any good with less wins.
27. New Orleans Saints (3-7)
The Saints snapped a seven game losing streak and it’s hard to figure out why. This past Sunday against Atlanta looked very similar to other games they’ve played and lost this season.
28. Cleveland Browns (2-7)
Coming off of their bye week Cleveland will travel to New Orleans to take on the Saints and then they’ll host the Pittsburgh Steelers.
29. Las Vegas Raiders (2-7)
The Raiders come off of their bye week to take on the Miami Dolphins on the road and then Denver at home.
30. Tennessee Titans (2-7)
One of the weirdest statistics you’ll read is Tennessee is number one in total points allowed. Too bad it hasn’t helped them win any games recently.
31. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-8)
Jacksonville is riding a three game losing streak and they have eight turnovers during that stretch. The Jaguars have 15 turnovers overall this season.
32. New York Giants (2-8)
The Giants have been fighting hard for the number one pick in the draft for weeks now.
