WHAT: The BIG3, the professional 3-on-3 basketball league co-founded by Ice Cube and Jeff Kwatinetz, will close out the 2018 season on Friday, August 24 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. The BIG3 2018 Championship will feature two back-to-back games, starting at 8pm ET. Before the action gets underway, Ice Cube will treat fans to a special performance starting at 6:30pm.
While the Championship matchup won’t be determined until after this evening’s playoffs in Dallas (8pm ET Live on FOX) – the four teams that will play in Brooklyn and that are still vying for the title include Nancy Lieberman’s No. 1 seed Power, led by Corey Maggette, Cuttino Mobley, Glen ‘Big Baby’ Davis and Chris ‘Birdman’ Andersen. The No. 2 seed 3 Headed Monsters coached by Gary Payton and led by Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf, Reggie Evans and Qyntel Woods. Michael Cooper’s No. 3 seed 3’s Company led byDerMarr Johnson, Baron Davis and Drew Gooden. And Julius ‘Dr. J’ Erving’s No. 4 seed Tri-State led by Amar’e Stoudemire, Nate Robinson and Jermaine O’Neal.
Next Friday, August 24 one of these four teams will be named the 2018 BIG3 Champions and will have the opportunity to hoist the Julius Erving Championship Trophy.
