The Atlanta Hawks (18-36) lost a big lead to the Toronto Raptors (40-16) in the first half which ended up in a 119-101 loss.
Atlanta led as many as 17 but the short-handed Raptors came back with a vengeance in the second half led by Pascal Siakam and Fred VanVleteet.
Siakam career-high 33 points helped rally the Raptors to the win. VanVleet added 30 points as well. Kawhi Leonard was out for this game.
The Hawks were led by Trae Young 19 points and John Collins double-double, 12 points and 12 rebounds. “It’s one of the woes that younger teams struggle with and we took our foot off the pedal,” stated Collins.
On the eve of the game, guard Tyler Dorsey was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies for guard Shelvin Mack. Also, the Raptors acquired center Marc Gasol for center Jonas Valanchunes, guard Delon Wright, forward C.J. Miles and a 2024 second round-pick.
The Hawks next game is against Charlotte on Saturday night at 7:30 pm eastern.
