The Atlanta Hawks (9-25) have won three out of their last five games beating the Washington Wizards (19-16) 113-99.

Dennis Schroder led the Hawks with 21 points and seven assists. Ersan Ilyasova added 20 points and nine rebounds. Marco Belinelli added 19 points to pace the Hawks bench in the victory.

Atlanta ranks fifth in three point shooting on the season (.383%) but couldn’t find the range versus Washington. They shot 29.7% from behind the arc missing 26 three-pointers in the process.

Washington couldn’t really find a rythym themselves. Wizards superstar John Wall shot only 3-9 from the field and finished with 10 points and 11 assists. Teammate Bradley Beal led Washington with 20 points and six rebounds.

Atlanta overcame a small halftime deficit and outscored Washington 58-42 in the second half. The fourth quarter was the Wizards downfall. Wall and Beal combined to shoot 1-5 from the field while Schroder and Ilyasova went 5-7 in the final quarter. Markief Morris (18 points, eight rebounds) hit a three-pointer with 4:57 left in the fourth quarter to get Washington close at 96-90. A 15-3 Hawks run would all but finish them off.

Game Notes:
Ilyasova has averaged 17 points in the Hawks last five games, up from his 10.7 average the season.

Dennis Schroder has scored at least 20 points in all but one of Atlanta’s nine victories.

Even after the win, Atlanta remains the only NBA team that has failed to win 10 games this season.

The Hawks next game is 12/29 on the road versus the Toronto Raptors.
