Dream Bounce Back – Atlanta Dream Weekly Report

Atlanta, Ga – The Atlanta Dream (8-8) had a tough road trip with four straight losses on the road. However, the Dream were able to snap their losing streak with a win against the Dallas Wings (8-9) 80-75.

The Dream were led with a great performance from Maya Caldwell who recently signed with the team on June 20th.

Caldwell put up a career high 18 points as well as shooting 80 percent from the three point line. Caldwell talked about how it has been since returning to Atlanta.

“It was a lot of pressure, but I love a challenge. My teammates and coaches made it a smooth transition for me making sure that I knew that I needed to be on the court, making sure I was watching film and it just transitioned into the game.”

Rhyne Howard had 16 points with eight rebounds and Aari McDonald added 15 points with five assists. Cheyenne Parker also had 14 points and seven rebounds with three blocks.

Erica Wheeler has been out due to a leg injury but throughout the game, she was seen firing up her team. Head coach Tanisha Wright spoke on how important she has been during this process.

“E [Erica Wilson] did a great job today,” said coach Wright. “One of our things on the board today was “positive energy givers” and I thought she was at the top of the list with doing that even being out. Her communication on the sideline, her communication in the huddles, her positive energy to all the players was really good.”

The Dream will continue their home stretch June 24th as they take on Sabrina Ionescu and the New York Liberty.
