The Tennessee Titans hold the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and have a multitude of directions they could go with it.
Names like Abdul Carter, Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders have all been floated as possible candidates to be taken but many believe Miami Hurricanes signal caller Cam Ward is the choice atop the class.
Tennessee had an eventful opening week of free agency and filled many of the holes on their roster with solid picks on both sides of the ball. This has lead to speculation that they are prepared to take Ward and start the newest era of Titans football.
But where does that leave Will Levis?
Levis has been up and down as a player, showing flashes of being a franchise player and then having massive let downs. Levis, in his short career, has put up 3,899 yards on 61% passing with 21 touchdowns. He is a far cry from a polished product but he isn’t a lost cause either.
The Titans could look to unload him for picks and there are a couple of teams that could look to add the 25-year old as a reclamation project of the future. Here are a few…
Los Angeles Rams
Sean McVay and company have committed to current team leader Matthew Stafford, but he is 37-years old and won’t be around forever.
McVay could use a late-round pick to take on Levis and groom him in an almost fail proof system for passers. Stafford’s newest extension gives Los Angeles a two-year window to develop Levis and then allow him to compete for the starting job at a relatively young 27-years old.
Pittsburgh Steelers
There has been a revolving door in the Steel City since the departure of long-time quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Pittsburgh has been in football purgatory for years, being too good to get a premium draft position and not good enough to compete with the upper echelon of the NFL. Trading for a quarterback could be a way to get talent at a position of need without breaking the status quo.
Levis has a higher ceiling than anyone that the Steelers have had at the position in recent history. They have two young receivers and a coach known for getting the most of his roster. Even if Levis isn’t the franchise quarterback, he could be a steady contributor until the team can draft their future.
San Francisco 49ers
Let’s be honest, the Niners have been in search for a quarterback for as long as any team in the league. The longest tenured quarterback in the team’s history since Steve Young is Alex Smith, who played for the team for seven years. The team may or may not pay Brock Purdy and Kyle Shanahan may look for a replacement on the open market.
Like McVay, Shanahan runs a fail-proof system that seems to bring the best out of his quarterback. Will Levis has every physical tool that God could give a player and Shanahan may see a diamond that can be polished.
The Niners are also in what looks like the early makings of a rebuild and so there would be no pressure on Levis to perform. This could be a match made in heaven for two parties that need a restart.
As of right now, Will Levis is still the best option for the Titans but that could change in April. If they are planning on taking a quarterback, then trading Levis may be a smart choice and benefit both sides in the future.
