Atlanta, Ga – After a slow start on the season, the Atlanta Braves completes their first sweep of the year by defeating the Minnesota Twins, 6-2 on Easter Sunday.
The Braves were sparked early on by a two-run home run by Matt Olson, from there, the Braves cruised to a series clinching win. The win put the Braves at 8-13 for the year.
Manager Brian Snitker understands that it’s a long season and having ups and downs comes with the territory.
“Well there gonna be highs and lows, we know,” stated Snitker. “We’ve just experienced it all in the first three weeks. But there’s a lot of good things I’m seeing offensively. Hitting with guys on and getting some multiple guys going. I think it shows what we’re capable of.”
Michael Harris was able to get his bat going this series by getting four hits, including four runs and three RBI. Harris batted ninth in the first game of the series, eighth the second game and seventh in the final game of the series.
Snitker believes that Harris has been able to succeed without the pressure of leading off along with his approach in the series.
“When he hit ninth, it was great for hm. I love a guy with speed down there and power and all that,” said Snitker. “I just think his approach has been better these last three days. It’s nice to see him making some adjustments.”
After winning three in a row, this could be the start of a turnaround for the Braves. If they are able to build off the momentum, Snitker believes their confidence can carry them throughout the rest of the season.
“I think they start believing in themselves again. Guys relaxed and a relaxed player plays at his best. It’s a collective effort that allows you to feel like I don’t have to be the guy, I don’t have to get a hit right here, I want to be in this moment but I don’t have to get a hit cause my teammate will pick me up. I think that’s a great place to be”
