This has been one of the most interesting college football seasons in years. So many surprise losses and upsets have transformed the landscape and how we view some of the best players on the field.
This is how the Top 50 prospects look after the first half of the year.
1. Will Johnson – Cornerback, Michigan
HT: 6’2″ WT: 202lbs
2024 Stats: 14 Total Tackles – 12 Solo Tackles – 2 Interception – 3 Passes Defended
Johnson is still the best cornerback prospect in the draft class and is showing why he is THE can’t miss player in the class.
2. James Pearce Jr. – Edge, Tennessee
HT: 6’5″ WT: 242lbs
2024 Stats: 12 Total Tackles – 6 Solo Tackles – 1.5 Sacks
Pearce has had a slow start to the year, but he is the leader of one of the best defenses in college football and is still the best edge in the class.
3. Luther Burden III – Wide Receiver, Mizzou
HT: 5’11” WT: 208lbs
2024 Stats: 26 Receptions – 339 Yards – 4 Touchdowns
Burden III is still the most well rounded receiver prospect in the draft class despite the less than favorable start to the season. He has almost matched his touchdown total from his freshman year and is still on pace to have a productive season.
4. Ashton Jeanty – Running Back, Boise State
HT: 5’9″ WT: 215lbs
2024 Stats: 1,031 Rush Yards – 10.9 YPC – 19 Receiving Yards – 16 Total Touchdowns
Jeanty has been arguably the best prospect in college football in the first half of the year. He is skyrocketing up boards as we speak.
5. Cameron Ward – Quarterback, Miami
HT: 6’4″ WT: 205lbs
2024 Stats: 2,219 Yards – 20 Touchdowns – 5 Interceptions – 182.4 Passer Rating
Ward has shown all the tools and moxy that NFL franchises want in their quarterback. He is the best QB prospect in the first half of the year and should be on a constant upward trajectory as the year continues.
6. Mason Graham – Defensive Lineman, Michigan
HT: 6’3″ WT: 318lbs
2024 Stats: 21 Total Tackles – 11 Solo Tackles – 3.5 Sacks
Graham has already surpassed his sack production from 2023 while still being a great run stopper. There aren’t any interior defensive lineman better than this young man currently.
7. Travis Hunter – Athlete, Colorado
HT: 6’1″ WT: 185lbs
2024 Stats: 19 Total Tackles – 15 Solo Tackles – 2 Interceptions – 8 Passes Defended/46 Receptions – 561 Yards – 6 Touchdowns
Hunter is showing that a true ironman football player could be a reality in the modern game. There will still be questions surrounding his true position, but as of now he is a surefire two-way stud.
8. Kelvin Banks Jr. – Tackle, Texas
HT: 6’4″ WT: 324lbs
2024 Stats: 167 Pass Blocking Snaps – 0 Sacks Allowed
Banks Jr. was the best tackle on the board in the preseason and is still reigning in that spot. His ability to mirror and play in a tough SEC has been more than admirable in the early going.
9. Xavier Watts – Safety, Notre Dame
HT: 6’0″ WT: 203lbs
2024 Stats: 19 Total Tackles – 15 Solo Tackles – 2 Interceptions – 4 Passes Defended
The best safety in the class is still showcasing why he will be the first one off the board. Watts is playing better than the 1st-round level he was playing at in 2023 in the first half of the season.
10. Will Campbell – Tackle, LSU
HT: 6’6″ WT: 323lbs
2024 Stats: 218 Pass Blocking Snaps – 0 Sacks Allowed
Campbell hasn’t been as dominant as expected but he has still been one of the best pass protectors in football.
11. Tetairoa McMillan – Wide Receiver, Arizona
HT: 6’5″ WT: 210lbs
2024 Stats: 37 Receptions – 664 Yards – 4 Touchdowns
It’s simple: McMillan is the freakiest receiver prospect since Julio Jones and will be a commodity to whomever takes him in the first round.
12. Nic Scourton – Edge, Texas A&M
HT: 6’4″ WT: 280lbs
2024 Stats: 17 Total Tackles – 13 Solo Tackles – 4.5 Sacks
Scourton has been a terror for the Aggies thus far and is putting together a strong reel for NFL scouts. He is on pace for around nine sacks on the season but we could see his best football going forward.
13. Jaxson Dart – Quarterback, Ole Miss
HT: 6’2″ WT: 225lbs
2024 Stats: 2,100 Yards – 13 Touchdowns – 2 Interceptions – 197.9 Passer Rating
Dart is second in the nation in passing and could make a case for the Heisman trophy. His first half of the season has been phenomenal and he has no signs of slowing down.
14. Quinn Ewers – Quarterback, Texas
HT: 6’2″ WT: 210lbs
2024 Stats: 691 Yards – 8 Touchdowns – 2 Interceptions – 175.2 Passer Rating
Ewers has dealt with some injuries but his play prior to that has been nothing short of top tier. He should be able to pickup where he left off upon his return to action.
15. Sheduer Sanders – Quarterback, Colorado
HT: 6’2” WT: 215lbs
2024 Stats: 3,230 Yards – 27 Touchdowns – 3 Interceptions – 151.7 Passer Rating
Sheduer has played well but there are still some deficiencies in his game. Despite that he is still one of the best prospects in a very shallow quarterback class.
16. Deone Walker – Defensive Lineman, Kentucky
HT: 6’6″ WT: 348lbs
2024 Stats: 15 Total Tackles – 0.5 Sacks
Walker has been a force in the middle of the Wildcats’ defense. His sack production hasn’t been great but his impact is still worth a an elite grade.
17. Jacobee Bryant – Cornerback, Kansas
HT: 6’0″ WT: 175lbs
2024 Stats: 20 Total Tackles – 14 Solo Tackles – 1 Interception – 4 Passes Defended
Bryant is the bright spot on what has been an otherwise underwhelming season for the Kansas Jayhawks. His consistency in coverage has been impeccable and shows why he is considered one of the top corners in the class.
18. Harold Perkins Jr. – Linebacker, LSU
HT: 6’1″ WT: 220lbs
2024 Stats: 16 Total Tackles – 5 Solo Tackles – 0 Sacks – 0 Interceptions
Perkins Jr. season is over due to a knee injury but he is one of the elite talents in the class regardless.
19. Malaki Starks – Safety, Georgia
HT: 6’1″ WT: 205lbs
2024 Stats: 25 Total Tackles – 14 Solo Tackles – 1 Interception – 1 Pass Defended
There haven’t been many defensive backs that have been more versatile than Malaki Starks in the first six weeks of the year. He has shown the elite skills that have earned him the acclaim from his preseason hype.
20. Jack Sawyer – Edge, Ohio State
HT: 6’5″ WT: 265lbs
2024 Stats: 17 Total Tackles – 10 Solo Tackles – 2.5 Sacks
Sawyer has been a disruptive force in the first half of the season for the Buckeyes. His abilities have been on full display and should continue to shine.
