- NFL Power Rankings Week 7 – The Deal Breakers - October 16, 2024
When we take a step back and think about it, this NFL season is very similar to plenty of seasons before. There are a lot of teams out there with plenty of questions by Week 6 but most of the teams have already shown what they’re able to do.
Be ready for a few of these teams to change colors in the next few weeks but for the most part, these leopards have already shown their spots.
1. Kansas City Chiefs (5-0)
The Chiefs have made nothing look easy this season but their record remains unblemished. They haven’t allowed a 300-yard passer all season and no team has eclipsed 100 yards rushing against them since Week 1.
2. Minnesota Vikings (5-0)
The Vikings are allowing an average of 15.2 points per game and they have forced nine turnovers. They have allowed one rushing touchdown all season.
3. Detroit Lions (3-1)
Detroit’s next two games are on the road against Dallas and Minnesota. This will be a good measuring stick on where they are as far as NFC contenders.
4. Washington Commanders (4-1)
Washington ranks first in total points and fourth in total yards from scrimmage. Nobody could envision this kind of start from the Commanders but they are quickly changing everyone’s mind.
5. Houston Texans (4-1)
Nico Collins is considered week-to-week with a hamstring injury. Stefon Diggs had six catches for 86 yards on Sunday and he’ll have to step up even more until Collins can come back.
6. Baltimore Ravens (3-2)
Baltimore has won three games in a row, averaging 34.6 points per game during that stretch. They rank second overall in total points scored.
7. Buffalo Bills (3-2)
Josh Allen had his worst game of the season against the Texans but he still hasn’t thrown an interception this season. Allen has now played in three games where he’s failed to throw for 200 yards and he hasn’t reach 300 yards passing in any game this season.
8. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-2)
The Buccaneers are 1-2 when they record a turnover on offense. They rank in the top five in fewest turnovers on the season but they can’t seem to overcome them when they do.
9. Dallas Cowboy (3-2)
The Cowboys currently have no identity. Are they an offensive team or a defensive team? They’ve got almost as many turnovers on offense as they’ve forced on defense. They are truly one of the most questionable teams so far this season.
10. Green Bay Packers (3-2)
The Packers have scored 20 or more points in four out of their five games. They rank eighth in in total points scored and fourth in total yards from scrimmage.
11. Atlanta Falcons (3-2)
Kirk Cousins broke a franchise record by throwing for 509 yards and added four touchdown passes in their overtime win over Tampa Bay. The Falcons are still undefeated when they score 20 or more points this season.
12. Philadelphia Eagles (2-2)
The Eagles next four opponents have a combined 5-15 record. This stretch of games could make or break their season.
13. Pittsburgh Steelers (3-2)
The Steelers forced three turnovers and still lost on Sunday. Offensively, they rank 26th in total points scored, and that unit needs to pick up more of the slack.
14. Seattle Seahawks (3-2)
Seattle is currently on a two-game losing streak while allowing an average of 35.5 points per game. Have teams figured out something against their defense?
15. Los Angeles Chargers (2-2)
The Chargers come off of their bye week looking to snap their two-game losing streak. They’ll start against the suddenly hot Denver Broncos.
16. Chicago Bears (3-2)
Caleb Williams started off the season with 267 passing yards and zero touchdowns in his first two games. He’s thrown for 824 yards and five touchdowns in his last three games.
17. San Francisco 49ers (2-3)
The 49ers are 0-3 in games decided by one score. They’ve given the ball away eight times on offense and forced eight turnovers on defense.
18. Denver Broncos (3-2)
The Broncos had their highest point total of the season and didn’t record a turnover on Sunday, but their offense is still a work in progress.
19. New Orleans Saints (2-3)
The Saints are riding a three-game losing streak and their great start to the season is unraveling fast. New Orleans has turned the ball over in every game they’ve played so far.
20. New York Jets (2-3)
The Jets have relieved Robert Saleh of his head coaching duties. The defensive minded Saleh had his team ranked in the top five in both total points allowed and total yards given up. A failing offense and disconnect with quarterback Aaron Rodgers ultimately sealed his fate.
21. Miami Dolphins (2-3)
Miami’s scoring difficulties continued on Sunday and it’s not all because of the quarterback play. Head coach Mike McDaniel needs to take a step back and look at his play calling.
22. Las Vegas Raiders (2-3)
Do the Raiders have a turnover problem or a running the football problem? They rank near the bottom of the league in total turnovers and they average 3.6 yards per carry.
23. Indianapolis Colts (2-3)
The ageless wonder Joe Flacco threw for 359 yards and three touchdowns in the Colts loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. Indianapolis is going to have to find some defense if they want to string some wins together.
24. Arizona Cardinals (2-3)
James Conner is averaging 75.8 rushing yards per game. Arizona ranks fourth overall in the NFL in rushing.
25. New York Giants (2-3)
Tyrone Tracy rushed for 129 yards on Sunday, marking the first time a Giants player eclipsed 100 yards on the ground this season.
26. Cincinnati Bengals (1-4)
Are the Bengals unlucky or just not focused enough to finish games? They’ve lost all of their games by one score and the only time the game has come down to anything more than that, they were victorious.
27. Cleveland Browns (1-4)
Is it time for the Browns to give Jameis Winston a chance to start? Head coach Kevin Stefanski said they aren’t making a change at quarterback, but Cleveland’s offense is atrocious right now.
28. Los Angeles Rams (1-4)
It’s been a struggle for Matthew Stafford without his main two targets. He has only three touchdown passes in five games. The fact that he’s been sacked 16 times hasn’t helped.
29. New England Patriots (1-4)
The Patriots had a chance to secure their second win of the season but they ran out of time. They’re averaging 8.6 points in their last three games, which have all resulted in losses.
30. Tennessee Titans (1-3)
Will the Titans replace Will Levis with Mason Rudolph? All indications are they won’t, but is that the right decision?
31. Jacksonville Jaguars (1-4)
Even after getting their first win of the season, the Jaguars are still pretty terrible. They rank 30th in points allowed and 31st in total yards allowed.
32. Carolina Panthers (1-4)
After an offensive breakout the previous two weeks, the Panthers have reverted back to their old, non-scoring ways. The three turnovers they gave up on Sunday has matched their season high.
