Falcons Free Agent Pass Rush Options Following Jalon Walker’s Injury

The Atlanta Falcons received devastating news during Tuesday’s training camp practice in Flowery Branch. Rising edge rusher Jalon Walker went down with a knee injury before being carted off the field. If Walker is forced to miss time, then the Falcons might have look to free agency to fill the void of the position.

The injury brought practice to a halt as teammates looked on. According to NFL Network, Walker is feared to have suffered a torn ACL, though the team has yet to officially confirm the diagnosis.

This creates another major concern for Atlanta’s pass rush. The Falcons were already awaiting the league’s investigation into James Pearce Jr. and any potential discipline that could follow. Losing Walker would leave Atlanta thin at one of the defense’s most important positions just weeks before the regular season begins.

With expectations high for the defense entering 2026, general manager Ian Cunningham could look to the veteran free-agent market for reinforcements.

Here are some possible options they could go with.

 

Joey Bosa

When healthy, Joey Bosa has proven to be one of the league’s premier pass rushers. Bosa, who was last with the Buffalo Bills had five sacks last season.

Injuries have limited his availability over the past few seasons but his ability to consistently pressure quarterbacks makes him an intriguing option. Bosa could provide the explosive pass-rushing presence the Falcons may now be missing. 

 

Haason Reddick

Haason Reddick brings production which every defense will need.

Throughout his career, Reddick has consistently generated pressure and finished plays with sacks. Reddick played 13 games with the Buccaneers last season and registered 2.5 sacks last season.

His speed off the edge would complement Atlanta’s current defensive front and give defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich another proven playmaker.

 

Von Miller

While Miller is no longer in his prime, the veteran still offers experience and leadership that few players can match. A two-time Super Bowl champion, Miller has built a Hall of Fame résumé by making timely plays in the biggest moments.

He could provide valuable pass-rush production while mentoring Atlanta’s young edge rushers and helping develop the next generation of talent.

If Walker’s injury is confirmed to be season-ending, addressing the edge position will likely become one of Atlanta’s top priorities. Adding another experienced pass rusher could help stabilize a defense that appeared poised to build on last season’s progress.
