Charlotte, NC – After winning two games in a row at home in dramatic fashion, the Atlanta Falcons traveled to Charlotte, North Carolina to defeat the Carolina Panthers, 38-20, pretty much closing the game out by early fourth quarter.

This win has the Falcons at 4-2 and ahead of the South division due to the tie breaker over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Overview

The Falcons started out slow, falling behind 7-0 midway in the first quarter. They immediately responded with a 12-play drive that ended with a five-yard touchdown run by Bijan Robinson.

Although the Falcons game plan was to throw down field, they were able to just take what the Panthers defense gave them and dominate by running the ball.

Falcons head coach, Raheem Morris believes that the offense is able to be interchangeable and adjust at any point while still being affective.

“I think we’re just kind of taking what they give us right now. The guys are just going out and doing it,” said Morris. “I’m sure I’m going to look at the stat sheet and you guys are going to ask me about somebody being more involved. That’s just going to be the case when you have so many good players.”

The defense allowed 17 points in the first half, not being able to contain the passing game. In the second half, they allowed only three points and forced two turnovers, which and helped the Falcons showcase a complete game.

Positives

This was the first game this season that the offense displayed a complete game. Putting up 423 yards of total offense. As stated before, to be able to be successful at taking what the defense gives them can make this team very dangerous.

If the running game could just get close to the performance they showed against Carolina, the Falcons will be hard to beat. Robinson (15 carries for 95 yards and two touchdowns) and Tyler Allgeier (18 carries for 105 yards and one touchdown) combined for 200 yards rushing.

The offensive line played their best game by creating holes for the running backs and pretty much keeping Kirk Cousins clean, not allowing a sack.

A.J. Terrell finally ended his drought of interceptions by picking off Andy Dalton midway in the beginning of the fourth quarter. It was his first interceptions since 2021 against the Buffalo Bills.

Negatives

If we’re nitpicking, the Falcons didn’t record a sack. Now, they did create pressure and lots of holding calls that would have ended up in sacks.

What’s Next

The Falcons will host the Seattle Seahawks next Sunday at 1:00 pm.  The Seahawks have lost three in a row,
