- The Falcons’ Offense Has Finally Settled In - November 1, 2024
The Atlanta Falcons are gearing up for the start of training camp on July 24. Going into a new regime under new head coach Raheem Morris, it will essentially be a new head start for many other Falcons, including the players who were already here.
Here are five headlines that could be the beginning of a boost for the 2024-25 Falcons’ season.
Captain Kirk Taking Charge
Kirk Cousins looks like he’s ready to roll for training camp after healing from a torn Achilles. His presence alone should catapult this team to more wins.
The question is how quickly can he win the team over and adjust to not only the offensive scheme but his teammates as well. Also, for the first time in his career, his possible future replacement will be looking to learn from him. Basically, Cousins need to be a leader in more ways than one.
Can A.J. Get His Mojo Back
The last two years, A.J. Terrell numbers have gone down in tackles and he didn’t have a single interception. Although a cornerback’s success isn’t all about stats, those particular stats are needed if he’s going to be considered the best cornerback on the team.
Now playing under Morris’ aggressive defensive scheme, Terrell should have no excuse that will keep him from making an impact statistically, preferably interceptions. He says he ready to be the leader, now it’s time to lead by example.
Grady Needs To Be Grady
Grady Jarrett is coming of a torn ACL and should be available as a full-go during training camp. Of course, the million dollar question is can he get back to his old self. Maybe old isn’t the right word to be using since he’s 31-years old.
His new responsibility will be mentoring, after the Falcons stocked up three defensive tackles in the draft. Jarrett can be a duel threat in training camp just with leading by example. Hopefully, the example is getting back to being explosive and relentless.
It’s Time For Kyle To Be Delivered From The ‘Pit’
If there is anybody who needs this year to be successful, it’s none other than Kyle Pitts. The former No. 4 overall pick haven’t lived up to his draft status, but can we blame him? Well, just like Terrell, it shouldn’t be any more excuses if Cousins can get back to his normal play (there’s the excuse).
Pitts should thrive under this new offense. His rookie year, he played with veteran quarterback, Matt Ryan and had over a thousand yards in receiving. Now with Cousins, running play-action with Bijan Robinson, having a more experienced Drake London and a speedy Darnell Mooney who should open up space by taking one of the safeties away from him, Pitts should thrive in this offense, but it starts in training camp.
Morris’ Stamp Needs To Be All Over Training Camp
The only way the Falcons can be good this upcoming season, it has to start with the man in charge, Raheem Morris. His energy, good vibes, attention to detail and determination has to received by the players and staff and reciprocated by the end of training camp.
Morris has a unique way of lightning the mood of practice while yet, keeping the energy and intensity up. Once the team buys in, then good things should follow.
