Flowery Branch, GA – Everyone reported to Training Camp for the Atlanta Falcons and everyone is medically cleared, including newly acquired quarterback, Kirk Cousins.
Although he’s medically cleared, Cousins will be somewhat modified for at least the beginning of training camp according to head coach Raheem Morris.
“Obviously, we’ll do some sort of our own modifications. Some of the things we did with Kirk in the spring, that you guys know, but he’s ready to go,” stated Morris.
Cousins was able to throw in the spring but he didn’t participate with the team fully due to recovering from a torn Achilles. The Falcons coaching staff wanted him to get some work in and made sure to take precautious measures to ensure he would be ready for training camp.
Considering that the Falcons will be diligent of Cousins, the limitations that he will have won’t be noticeable to the naked eye.
“Some of his limitations are coming out of individual drills, some of our movement, making sure we don’t wear him out to the point where we want to get all of the team reps with him,” said Morris. “He’s fired up, the team’s fired up and the limitations for him you won’t notice either.”
As far as playing in preseason, Morris believes that the most important factor is worrying about “block one“, which is getting ready mentally.
The Falcons are ready to go and it seems that the plan around Cousins is to not hold him back but take one practice at a time without doing too much.
