Bombs Away: Why The New York Yankees May Be The Scariest Team In The MLB Playoffs

The winners of eight straight, the New York Yankees are surging with their eyes on the playoffs ahead. Being only 3.5 games back from first place in the American League East, they have essentially eliminated the Toronto Blue Jays from contention and look like the best team in the division going into the final stretch of the regular season. If they ride this momentum into the playoffs, they cold be the most dangerous team in the MLB Bubble.

One of the biggest reasons for this is the resurgence of “The Bronx Bombers.” Headlined by their two returning Silver Slugger winners, Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton, the Yankees have seen their offense return to form over the last five games. We can’t discount DJ LeMahieu or Luke Voit, as they anchored the batting load while Judge and Stanton were on the IL.

However, the improvement in the bullpen is the most important component to this team.

With their three best starting pitchers, Deivi Garcia, Gerrit Cole, and Masahiro Tanaka combining for 3.28 earned run average, 116 strikeouts and 38 runs earned they have become one of the most reliable starting rotations in baseball. Couple that with the fact that they have only allowed a .230 batting average this year which ranks sixth in the league, and this team has the makings of a juggernaut.

The playoffs start in two weeks and the league may want to keep an eye on New York. This team has caught fire and doesn’t look like It may be slowing down anytime soon. For all we know we could be looking at a World Series Champ in the making.
