This was a slow week for the top ten with one Top Ten matchup. Only five teams were in action and there was a newcomer to the Top Ten. Not much shuffling but there will be in the coming weeks. Here is a look at this week’s College Football Top Ten ranking:

3) Ohio State Buckeyes (8-0) Bye week
Next game- vs. Maryland Terrapins
4) Clemson Tigers (9-0) defeated Wofford Terriers 59-14
The Tigers demolished the Terriers in this mismatch for an easy victory. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence was efficient, going 12 of 16 for 218 yards with three touchdowns. Running back Travis Etienne was terrific, rushing for 212 yards and two touchdowns. The defense held Wofford to 256 total yards and forced two turnovers.

5) Penn State Nittany Lions (8-0) Bye week
Next game- at #11 Minnesota Golden Gophers
6) Georgia Bulldogs (7-1) def #6 Florida Gators 24-17
The Bulldogs traveled to Gainesville and gutted out a tough victory over the Gators. Quarterback Jake Fromm was on his game, going 20 of 30 for 279 yards with two touchdowns. Wide receiver Lawrence Cager has a productive day with 132 receiving yards and a touchdown. The defense was stingy holding Florida under 300 total yards and had two sacks.
Next game- vs. Missouri Tigers
7) Oregon Ducks (8-1) defeated USC Trojans 56-24
The Ducks fell behind in the first quarter then blitzed the Trojans with an offensive explosion for the resounding win. Quarterback Justin Herbert was precise, going 21 of 26 for 225 yards with three touchdowns and an interception. Wide receiver Juwan Johnson came up big with 106 receiving yards and three touchdowns. The defense bent but didn’t break and forced four turnovers.
Next game- vs. Arizona Wildcats
8) Utah Utes (8-1) defeated Washington Huskies 33-28
The Utes went on the road and escaped with a win over the Huskies. Quarterback Tyler Huntley was excellent, going 19 of 24 for 284 yards with a touchdown. Running back Zack Moss rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown. The defense shut down Washington’s rushing attack and forced three turnovers.

9) Oklahoma Sooners (7-1) Bye week
Next game- vs. Iowa State Cyclones
10) Baylor Bears (8-0) defeated West Virginia Mountaineers 17-14
The Bears crashed the top ten by edging out the Mountaineers in a nail bitter. Quarterback Charlie Brewer was efficient, going 20 of 26 for 277 yards with two touchdowns. Wide receiver Denzel Mims had 99 receiving yards and a touchdown. The defense held West Virginia to 219 total yards and forced two turnovers.
