ATLANTA — Ronald Acuña Jr. is headed back to the Midsummer Classic — and this time, he’s doing it on home turf.
The Braves superstar has been named a National League All-Star starter for the fifth time and will represent Atlanta at Truist Park when it hosts the 95th MLB All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 15. First pitch is set for 8 p.m. EDT, following pregame festivities.
Acuña will be joined in the National League outfield by Kyle Tucker and Pete Crow-Armstrong, both of the Chicago Cubs.
The complete list of NL starters includes:
- C: Will Smith – Dodgers
- 1B: Freddie Freeman – Dodgers
- 2B: Ketel Marte – Diamondbacks
- SS: Francisco Lindor – Mets
- 3B: Manny Machado – Padres
- OF: Pete Crow-Armstrong – Cubs
- OF: Kyle Tucker – Cubs
- OF: Ronald Acuña Jr. – Braves
- DH: Shohei Ohtani – Dodgers
For Acuña, it’s not just another All-Star nod, it’s a full-circle moment to represent his city on one of baseball’s biggest stages.
“I think it’s a dream come true, just to be playing in my fifth All-Star Game,” Acuña said via Braves Director of Baseball Player Relations Franco García, translating. “But more importantly, just to be playing this All-Star Game in front of the best fans in baseball.”
The honor comes during yet another sensational season for Acuña, who’s batting .350 with a 1.076 OPS, nine home runs, 18 RBIs, and four stolen bases in 35 games. He remains one of the most dynamic and electrifying players in the game, and the fan vote reflected that.
“Anything is possible with hard work, determination,” Acuña said. “Then, on top of that, when you have the fan base supporting you in the way that they did, I think anything is possible.”
Acuña, 27, is once again among the league leaders in batting average and OPS and his presence in the starting lineup reflects not just production, but popularity. Whether it’s the energy he brings to the field, his leadership in the clubhouse or the connection he shares with Braves fans, Acuña remains the face of the franchise.
As the All-Star spotlight descends on Atlanta, Acuña will be front and center leading the charge for the NL and representing the Braves in front of a home crowd that helped put him on the biggest stage of the summer.
