NFL Power Rankings Week 2- Finding The Right Version

As usual, a lot of things we thought would happen never materialized in Week 1. Sure, we had the normal big plays, hard hits and upsets but something definitely felt different. Even with the usual suspects doing what their know for, things felt a bit off kilter.

Could it be our expectations (or predictions) were vastly overblown, or better yet misplaced?

 

1.) Seattle Seahawks (0-1)
If I told you Seattle looked dominating on defense and solid on offense you would think nothing has changed much from last year. The difference is this team was led by Drew Lock and almost didn’t miss a beat.

 

2.) Buffalo Bills (1-0)
Josh Allen has as many rushing touchdowns as Frank Gore and Otis Anderson, two of the greatest running backs in NFL history. Isn’t it crazy that Josh Allen plays quarterback?

 

3.) Baltimore Ravens (1-0)
With their performances on Sunday, the race for league MVP could be Lamar Jackson versus Derrick Henry. That type of race would definitely benefit the Ravens.

 

4.) Chicago Bears (1-0)
Ben Johnson said he wants to break the NFL all-time scoring record. Chicago is on pace to score 1,003 points this season if their Week 1 pace keeps up.

 

5.) San Francisco 49ers (1-0)
The old geezers, the 49ers, rolled out in Australia and looked kind of young and explosive. Their trio of 30-something stars, Mike Evans, Christian McCaffery and Deebo Samuel Sr. all scored a touchdown in San Fransisco’s blowout win.

 

6.) Philadelphia Eagles (1-0)
The Eagles offense looked pretty good under new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion. Jalen Hurts threw three touchdown passes in his first game under the fifth offensive coordinator he’s had in his NFL career.

 

7.) Los Angeles Rams (0-1)
The Rams lost one game in a season, yet most analyst had them loosing a few games. The loss of Myles Garrett for a few weeks could be concerning, but let’s not be quick to write their eulogy.

 

8.) Cincinnati Bengals (1-0)
The vaunted Bengals offense didn’t have the greatest showing over the weekend. However, the defense looked much improved, scoring a touchdown and forcing four Tampa Bay turnovers.

 

9.) Kansas City Chiefs (1-0)
The Chiefs traded away a lot of veteran talent in exchange for a younger and deeper roster. Their first-round pick Mansoor Delane had an early interception and a pass deflection before an apparent shoulder injury ended his night prematurely.

 

10.) Jacksonville Jaguars (1-0)
Trevor Lawrence threw for four touchdowns in the Jaguars win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. This marks the third times in his career that he has recorded four passing touchdowns.

 

11.) Minnesota Vikings (1-0)
Kyler Murray was slated to be the new gunslinger in Minnesota but a concussion derailed his first start early in the first quarter. Carson Wentz stepped in and threw three touchdown passes for the improbable win.

 

12.) Denver Broncos (0-1)
Denver’s defense looked like real push overs against a more than ready Kansas City team. The offense didn’t do much better, especially in regards to running the football.

 

13.) Houston Texans (0-1)
Do we blame C.J. Stroud for his two lost fumbles? Do we blame the Houston defense for giving up 36 points? We probably should just chalk it up to Week 1 woes for the Texans.

 

14.) Detroit Lions (1-0)
The Lions dodged a bullet after not being able to win the game in regulation. Even after recording three interceptions, they still allowed over 400 yards through the air.

 

15.) New York Giants (1-0)

The Giants looked like a poised well-balanced team under new head coach John Harbaugh. They had almost 400 yards of total offense and allowed less than 250 yards to Dallas. One thing they’ll need to work on is penalties.

 

16.) New England Patriots (0-1)
In two games against the Seahawks, Drake Maye is 50-76 for 473 yards and three passing touchdowns. The five interceptions he has over those two games is probably why he’s 0-2 against them.

 

17.) Dallas Cowboys (0-1)
Talks of Dallas’s upgrades on defense seems vastly overrated after one week. The real letdown came with the Cowboys’ rushing attack. They could only muster up 69 yards on the ground, averaging only 3.8 yards per carry.

 

18.) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-1)
After signing his $165 million contract, you’d expect Baker Mayfield to come out fired up for Week 1. Instead, he got fired up by the Cincinnati defensive unit. Four sacks and three lost fumbles made for a horrendous opening day for Mayfield.

 

19.) Carolina Panthers (0-1)
Carolina had 478 yards of total offense and five offensive touchdowns. They scored 37 points and still somehow managed to lose by 22 points. The defense has some work to do.

 

20.) Green Bay Packers (0-1)

Without Josh Jacobs, the Packers only rushed for 66 yards as a team on 3.1 yards per carry. The Packers might need to look for some better options that could be available in free agency.

 

21.) Pittsburgh Steelers (1-0)
T. J. Watt had two sacks, three tackles for loss and a 35-yard interception return for a touchdown on Sunday. Is he the (extremely) early favorite for NFL Defensive Player of the year?

 

22.) Arizona Cardinals (1-0)
Arizona’s defense forced two turnovers and kept Los Angeles Chargers scoreless for the second and last quarter.

 

23.) Los Angeles Chargers (0-1)
Justin Herbert and company could only muster up two touchdowns in what was supposed to be a revamped offense under coordinator Mike McDaniel. The Chargers have never really upgraded their outside receiver position.

 

24.) New Orleans Saints (0-1)
Can you really blame Kellen Moore for going after the win in overtime? The Saints showed a big improvement from last season. Tyler Shough has looked really good since the end of last season.

 

25.) New York Jets (1-0)
The good news is the Jets won their first season opener since the 2023 season. The bad news is the team has not recorded an interception in (a NFL record) 18 consecutive games now.

 

26.) Las Vegas Raiders (1-0)
Kirk Cousins made some good throws but two interceptions won’t lead to many wins against better competition.

 

27.) Indianapolis Colts (0-1)
Daniel Jones didn’t look sharp coming off an Achilles injury. History shows that players coming off of that type of injury needs quite a bit of time to get back to true form.

 

28.) Washington Commanders (0-1)
Washington had a chance to tie the game but failed on the two-point conversion. Jayden Daniels was a bit sporadic in his first regular season game after an injury plagued 2025 season.

 

29.) Atlanta Falcons (0-1)
The Falcons defense held their own for the most part. The offense had trouble moving the ball and the pick six to T.J. Watt sealed their overall fate.

 

30.) Tennessee Titans (0-1)
Cam Ward has never recorded a game with 300 passing yards or a game with 300 total yards from scrimmage in 18 career starts.

 

31.) Miami Dolphins (0-1)
Miami fought a good fight with limited resources at their disposal. The combination of penalties, turnovers and giving up five sacks will make it tough to win any game.

 

32.) Cleveland Browns (0-1)
Deshaun Watson didn’t have a terrible game on Sunday and I’m not sure anybody would call it Pro Bowl worthy either. The Browns have much more problems on their team than one position.
