Down the line of the depth charts we go as injuries to major stars have occurred. This is a usual thing in the NFL, but it’s the unusual amount of top stars on the injury list that could change the trajectory of the entire season.
1.)
San Francisco 49ers (4-0)
Brock Purdy has been sacked a total of zero times this season. The team is averaging 137.3 rushing yards per game this season. To say their offensive line has been dominant might be an understatement.
2.)
Kansas City Chiefs (4-0)
Tyquan Thornton suffered a dislocated ankle with torn ligaments in the game against the Las Vegas Raiders. He was having a career-high performance with five catches for 111 yards and two touchdowns.
3.)
Minnesota Vikings (4-0)
Will Reichard outscored the Miami Dolphins 15-10 in their win over the Dolphins. The offense looked good, but couldn’t punch their ticket into the end zone on Sunday.
4.)
Buffalo Bills (3-1)
If you’re glass is half empty, you’d point out Buffalo has failed to score 30 points in their last two games. If your glass is half full, you’d point out they haven’t allowed 30 points in their last two games either.
5.)
Baltimore Ravens (3-1)
The annual Lamar Jackson injury watch has officially started with the star quarterback suffering an ankle sprain against the Titans. His status is unsure for the Week 5 matchup against the Falcons.
6.)
Seattle Seahawks (3-1)
The Seahawks are ranked fifth in total points allowed and first in total yards allowed. The defense has forced eight turnovers, which ranks them second in the NFL.
7.)
Chicago Bears (3-1)
The Bears rank ninth in the NFL, averaging 28.0 points per game. Three different quarterbacks have thrown for over 225 yards in a game this season for Chicago.
8.)
Las Vegas Raiders (3-1)
Brock Bowers is averaging eight catches for 101 receiving yards and one touchdown per game this season. In case you didn’t know, there’s 13 more games to go, could you imagine his numbers if he stays healthy?
9.)
Jacksonville Jaguars (3-1)
Trevor Lawrence has 843 passing yards, eight touchdowns and only two interceptions in this young season. Jacksonville is showing balance on offense, rushing for 117.3 yards per game, which ranks 11th in the NFL.
10.)
New York Giants (3-1)
Jameis Winston finished his game against Arizona with 250 passing yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. A classic up and down performance for the veteran quarterback.
11.)
Cleveland Browns (3-1)
Cleveland has to be the hottest team in the NFL, winning three in a row by the skin of their teeth. They have outscored their last three opponents by a total of ten points.
12.)
Denver Broncos (2-2)
The Broncos scored most of their points in the second half for the second week in a row. Unfortunately for them, it was only 11 points and well shy of San Fransisco point total for the game.
13.)
Detroit Lions (2-2)
The Detroit Lions are the worst team in the NFL as far as defending the pass. Whether its due to injuries or scheme, they have to change something.
14.)
Los Angeles Rams (2-2)
The Rams could point to penalties as a part of their unsuccessful start to the season. Despite their “desperate” come back win on Sunday, they racked eight penalties for 100 yards.
15.)
Philadelphia Eagles (2-2)
Eagles right tackle, Lane Johnson, played in the first three games this season and now has all of a sudden retired following Week 4. The 14-year veteran has won two Super Bowls and had been named to six Pro Bowl teams throughout his career.
16.
Carolina Panthers (2-2)
Tetairoa McMillan grabbed 14 catches for 192 receiving yards and two touchdowns in Carolina’s victory on Sunday night. He fell one catch short of Christian McCaffrey’s franchise record.
17.)
Atlanta Falcons (2-2)
In the two games Michael Penix Jr. has started this season, the Falcons are averaging 40.0 points per game. They have averaged 223.5 rushing yards and scored a total of eight rushing touchdowns during that stretch.
18.)
Cincinnati Bengals (2-2)
The defense has allowed 52 points the last two games combined after giving up 33 points total in the first two games. They rank 13th in average points per game allowed.
19.)
Dallas Cowboys (2-2)
The Cowboys rank 32nd in points allowed per game and 28th in yards allowed per game. So much for the defensive overhaul they had this off season.
20.)
New England Patriots (2-2)
Drake Maye and Romeo Doubs connected for two touchdowns against Buffalo. Could they finally be getting in sync?
21.)
Indianapolis Colts (2-2)
The Colts defense has given up an average of 261.2 passing yards per game, which ranks 29th in the league. They allow an average of 26.0 points per game this season.
22.)
Pittsburgh Steelers (2-2)
It seems the Steelers haven’t figured out their running situations for what seems like a decade now. They currently rank 22nd in rushing yards and they currently have no rushing touchdowns this season.
23.)
Green Bay Packers (2-2)
The Packers rank first in the NFL with 344 penalty yards on 32 penalties. They have committed seven turnovers on offense.
24.)
New Orleans Saints (1-3)
Tyler Shough faced 25 total quarterback pressures on 51 total dropbacks against Atlanta. He’s been sacked a total of 12 times this season.
25.)
Arizona Cardinals (1-3)
Arizona allows an average of 29.3 points per game which ranks them 29th overall. They rank 24th in total yards allowed.
26.)
New York Jets (1-3)
Aaron Glenn is sporting a 4-17 record as Jets head coach. With the landscape of today’s NFL, his job security has to be at a low point right now.
27.)
The Washington Commanders (1-3)
It was getting to the point where Washington would’ve needed to put an ad in the paper for a veteran starting quarterback. Thankfully for the Commanders, Jayden Daniels plans to start week five against the Giants.
28.)
Houston Texans (0-4)
The Texans defense ranks third in the NFL with 14 sacks so far this season. Their defense somehow allows an average of 27.3 points per game despite the pressure.
29.)
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-4)
Tampa Bay holds opposing teams to a 32.6% conversion rate on third downs, which ranks sixth in the NFL. The defense has played well despite the torrid start.
30.)
Los Angeles Chargers (0-4)
Can the Chargers offensive line turn it around this season? Justin Herbert has been sacked 12 times, five of those have come in the past two games.
31.
Tennessee Titans (0-4)
The Tennessee Titans have scored 20 points or more only once this season. In his career as a head coach, Robert Saleh’s teams have averaged 17.2 points per game.
32.)
Miami Dolphins (0-4)
The Dolphins had a legit chance to win their game against Minnesota, but self-inflicted wounds killed their chance at victory. Nothing seems bigger than Chris Bell stepping out of bounds on a would be touchdown.
