Flowery Branch, GA – On the 13th day of training camp, the Atlanta Falcons’ first team offense had a very lucky or better yet, very proficient day of practice.
Kirk Cousins was nearly perfect in practice today, showing off his arm strength and precision passing. He started off the day completing 8-11 attempts with two of the passes being dropped by Darnell Mooney.
“I thought it was a strong practice. We just kind of keep taking steps,” said Cousins. “I think I like the results today, the way the guys came down with the football.”
What stood out today was the way the Falcons stretched the field. Cousins connected with Drake London for three deep balls, including one that went for a touchdown.
Cousins completed five out of six passes to London.
The chemistry between the two is growing each practice and it’s becoming very evident.
“He’s been great at the catch point and he separates well, where you feel like you’re getting the best of both worlds,” explained Cousins.
The offense is starting to come together and the passing game is displaying cohesiveness. With Kyle Pitts, London, Mooney and even Ray-Ray McCloud III, all have formed chemistry with Cousins on and off the field.
As far as if the offense is where it should be, Cousins is pretty satisfied of where they are at this point in training camp.
“I like our group. I think the Miami practice was a good test for us,” stated Cousins. ” The guys are younger than me but I really like the guys. I feel like we’re buddies and I like them as people.”
It’s very unlikely we will see them in preseason action, so we will have to wait until the regular season begins to see them against an opponent. Until then, the passing game will continue to iron out all wrinkles, and in their case, hopefully become one of the top offenses in the NFL.
