Atlanta, Ga – Powered by three home runs, the Atlanta Braves wins the opening game of a three-game series against the New York Mets, 5-2.
The win put the Braves in a first-place tie with the Mets for the Eastern Division.
Max Fried (14-7) got the win. He pitched 5.0 innings and gave up an earned run and four hits with three strikeouts. Fried left the game early because of an illness.
Closer Kenley Janson entered the game in the 9th inning and loaded the bases before he struck out the final two batters for the save (38).
Matt Olson went 2-3, including a solo home run (31). Austin Riley (38) and Dansby Swanson (23) also hit a solo home run. It was Swanson’s 100th career-home run
Orlando Arcia went 2-3, which included a double and a RBI.
The starting pitchers for Saturday’s game will be RHP Max Scherzer (11-4) for the Mets and RHP Kyle Wright (20-5) for the Braves.
The game will start at 7:20 pm eastern.
