Boston, MA – The Atlanta Braves (65-46) score two runs in the top of the 11th inning to defeat the Boston Red Sox (54-57), 9-7.
Austin Riley hit a two-RBI single that drove in Michael Harris and Ronald Acuna Jr. in the top of the 11th inning for the go-ahead runs. Riley went 3-6 including a home run, triple and five RBI.
Acuna went 3-5 with a walk and scored three runs. Both Harris and Dansby Swanson each got two hits, including a double, RBI and a run each.
Orlando Arcia left the game with an apparent leg injury in the 10th inning on a single that drove in Eddie Rosario.
Relieve pitcher Tyler Matzek (2-2) was credited for the win. Charlie Morton got the start and pitched 6.0 innings, allowing five runs on six hits and a walk. He struck out sevens batters.
Wednesday’s starter for the Braves will be RHP Kyle Wright (13-5) and RHP Nick Pivetta (8-8) will start for the Red Sox.
