The Atlanta United FC (10-7-4) gets a clutch goal with one minute left in stoppage time to end game in a tie against Orlando City SC (8-8-6).
Orlando City came out aggressive with two shots on goal within the 2-minute mark including a shot that hit the goal post.
Atlanta battled back by getting into the 18-yard box multiple times but ended up with one shot on goal which was a header that had no power to it.
In the 15th-minute, Miguel Almiron shot a 30-ft shot that hit the goal post and bounced right. United kept the pressure up with three shots on goal in a two minute span.
A yellow card was issued to Yamil Asad for grabbing and pulling the offender down to the ground in the 24th minute. The game exposed the rivalry type build up before the game as skirmishes, pushing and physical play dominated the contest.
Atlanta stayed on the attack and had great a chance to score on a breakaway from Julian Gressel who passed to Almiron for an open net who hit the post. The rebound came to Gressel who struck a shot to a wide open goal that hit the side of the net.
The next transition, Kaka” scored on a one-timer in the 40th-minute.
Almiron was fouled at the beginning of the second half right outside the 18-yard box and had a free kick which blew over into the stands. There would be another chance for Almiron which he shot a straight on dart on goal that skirted pass the goalkeeper and just wide from going in.
After multiple chances with time running out, Hector Villalba scored on a give-and-go from Asad in the last minute.
Atlanta had another opportunity to score but the they failed and the game ended with both teams giving respect to one another.
United led with 17 shot on goal to Orlando’s 10.
