Not familiar with the city? No problem. New York has many sites and attractions to choose from. Visit the Empire State building or go for a walk in Central Park. Actually, there are many smaller cities inside of NYC you can go to. Visit Brooklyn and have a hot dog at Nathans. Maybe you wanna visit the Bronx Zoo. There’s also a newly built part that you take the 7 train to. When u get off and see the majestic Citi Field, home of the New York Mets, you can see a blue and orange spirit permeating through its walls.

Yes ladies and gentlemen the “Strikeout Boys” have made mince-meat out of its National League counterparts and have earned themselves a trip to the World Series. After taking care of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the Divisional series (3-2) , they took out the Chicago Cubs in a 4 game sweep. Now their set to battle not only the Kansas City Royals but their own inner demons.

Rise of the Strikeout Boys
With game 4 of the NLCS winding down the Cubs sent Dexter Fowler to the plate. The game would end a few pitches later with Fowler looking at a call 3rd strike. Mets closer Jeurys Familia dropped to his knees in front of the mound, then hugged his catcher Travis D’Arnaud. Familia has mopped up the competition and slammed the door on any would be comebacks or rallies. He has 5 saves and a robust 0.00 era in 9.2 innings pitched.

The rest of the staff, particularly the starters, have been nothing short of sensational. Jacob Degrom had three wins in three starts, not to mention a 1.80 era and 27 strikeouts. Matt Harvey posted 16 strikeouts in 12.2 innings pitched and two wins in two starts. Noah Syndaguard has 20 strikeouts in 13 innings pitched. The Mets pitching staff as a whole have 91 strikeouts against 22 walks. In the first 9 games this postseason, they have given up 25 runs (less than three a game). Their opponents have a .206 batting average against them. The young hurlers are making an impact in big time games and now have a chance to play for all the marbles.

Sprinkle in some runs too
How bout all that glorious pitching at the Mets disposal, but hold on a second there’s more. The Mets as a whole have racked up 68 hits and 43 runs this postseason. Curtis Granderson has 10 of those hits to go along with a .303 batting average, seven runs batted in and four stolen bases. The team has the extra base hits as well. 13 doubles, 14 home runs, and even toss in a triple for good measure. Their home run total is fueled by Daniel Murphy. The Mets infeilder has seven homers and has hit at least one homerun in six consecutive postseason games (a new MLB record). Add 16 hits and an impressive .421 average and you can see why he was given the NLCS MVP honors.

The stage is set and the stakes are as high as it gets. The boys from Queens will have to be poised and play even harder than the previous 2 rounds. All the hopes and dreams of the multitude of Mets fans across the land have come to this series. With four more wins they would take their place at the pinnacle of Major League Baseball. If and when that happens, every challenger after that will have a little concern when they have to travel to play the Mets in their city. As stated before, there are any numbers of great things to do there. Opposing teams might not have the fun that you do though. If they visit Citi Field, the only thing they’re most likely to rack up on is strikeouts.
