Super Bowl Profile – Philadelphia’s Stout Mix

Ab Stanley

The Philadelphia Eagles’ improbable dash to the Super Bowl has been filled with ups and very little downs. It’s been pretty much a season of success, but their greatest test will come Sunday evening. A tilt against the Kansas City Chiefs should give them all they can handle.

Keys To The Game

The Eagles racked up 44 carries in the conference title game and this weekend should be no different. Neutralizing the Chiefs’ offense should be the top priority and rushing the football effectively helps. Keeping Patrick Mahomes and company off the field is the simplest way to keep the Chiefs off the scoreboard.

Getting out to an early lead will be imperative for Philadelphia. The Eagles have built big leads by halftime of both playoffs games that they’ve appeared in. This forces their opponents to become pass heavy offensively and that plays right into the Eagles’ hands on defense.

The Eagle’s offensive line will have a tough task handling the Chiefs’ defensive front. Kansas City led the AFC in sacks and even with Jalen Hurts running ability, the Eagles have to beware.

The defense has shown up and dominated like we all though they would, but they have to avoid costly penalties. They’ve racked up nine penalties so far in the playoffs, but they’ve avoided the heavy loss in yards (59 lost yards). Foolish penalties can derail a defense clicking on all cylinders and the Eagles have shown very little weakness otherwise.

X-Factor:

Philadelphia Eagles Entire Secondary James Bradbury, Darius Slay and company will have to be extra focused in this one. The Chiefs will try and throw heavily to tight end Travis Kelce which the Eagles might not have an answer for. The rest of the receivers have to be locked down and not given any free release  off the line of scrimmage.

Philadelphia has everything you want in a champion. If they can stick to their game plan, they should be hoisting the Lombardi trophy late Sunday evening.
