On Friday, the Los Angeles Sparks (4-2) defeated the Phoenix Mercury (2-4), 85-68 behind a very efficient offensive game as they shot 51.5% from the floor and 47% from behind the 3 point line.
The Mercury were on the opposite side of the spectrum as they shot 34.7% from the floor and 29% from behind the 3 point line.
The Sparks shot well all game and in the first half Phoenix kept the game close with their offensive rebounds. The Mercury had 9 offensive rebounds in the first half. After two quarters the Sparks led the Mercury, 38-36.
In the 2nd half, Phoenix’s rebounding edge went away and Los Angeles continued to play great defense and shoot the ball well. The Sparks started the second half on a 11-3 run and never looked back.
Chelsea Gray led the way for Los Angeles with 21 points. The Mercury only had two players in double figures: Brittney Griner with 24 points and DeWanna Bonner with 22 points.
