Reaction On Cameron Ward And The Tennessee Titans’ Week One Loss

Denver – Week 1 had the makings of a crazy whirlwind as two first-round draft pick quarterbacks faced off in a AFC matchup. The Tennessee Titans visited Mile High Stadium to play the Denver Broncos, a matchup featuring Cameron Ward who made his first start of his career.

Tennessee lost the game 20-12 in a close one

Overview

Penalties ruled the day for a team looking to eliminate self-inflicted wounds. They accrued over 131 yards on 13 accepted penalties on the day.

The offense looked lethargic outside of a couple series here and there. Ward’s stat line was not indicative of his play as he completed 12/28 passes for 112 yards. His day was plagued by drops and miscues that derailed what was a winnable game.

Defensively, the Titans showed up. They won the turnover battle but ultimately broke as the game went along. Denver put up 196 yards of offense in the second half after totaling only 121 in the first.

This was a tough outing for the team to start out the 2025 season.

Positives:

-Rookie Showcase: Cameron Ward, Femi Oladejo, Gunnar Helm, Chimere Dike and Elic Ayomanor all played well in their first career regular season action.

-Defense Is King: Tennessee’s defense played a very good game outside of giving up a few big plays.

-Won the Turnover Battle: Titans’ ball hawking defense created four turnovers.

Negatives:

-Penalties and Undisciplined Play: 13 penalties for 131 yards derailed multiple drives.

-Close But No Dice: Tennessee could not convert their red zone and goal-to-go situations going 0/3 combined.

-Situation Too Big?: There were multiple miscues and situational mistakes from the coaching staff, which put Tennessee in bad spots.
