Looking For A Lone Star – Houston Texans 2023 Draft Profile

Team Needs: QB, WR, Edge, DL

The Houston Texans seemed to have promise going into last season. After what on paper looked like a franchise changing draft, things went downhill quickly.

The Texans are going into this year with a need at QB and weapons on the outside. Boasting the second overall pick in the draft will help that, especially with the talented crop of players coming out. Here are a couple of possible targets that could help turn around the embattled franchise:

CJ Stroud, QB, Ohio State

Tank Dell, WR, Houston

B.J. Ojulari, DL, LSU

The Texans need to address their need of a signal caller ASAP. Getting a quarterback who can stand in the pocket and deliver on-time, accurate passes is key. CJ Stroud is one of the best at that in the draft and won’t need much molding.

It would be pointless to draft a signal caller and not get him a weapon, right? So why not go into your backyard and draft the dynamic receiver Tank Dell? Dell is a crafty pass catcher with elite speed. He would come in and instantly be the best receiver on the team.

With the addition of DeMeco Ryans as the head coach, the defense is going to be stout against the run and get after the quarterback. Having a player like B.J. Ojulari to anchor the middle would give Ryans a piece to build around. Bolstering the front seven also makes life easier for last year’s standouts Derek Stingley Jr. and Jalen Pitre.

This draft will be integral for the future success of the Texans. They are in a good spot to correct some mistakes of the past, and ensure history doesn’t repeat itself.
