Georgia Tech’s Alvarado Voted Second Team All-ACC

On Wednesday, the Atlantic Coast Conference’s media members voted Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets’ senior guard Jose Alvarado to it’s preseason All-Conference second team. He was joined by David Johnson (Louisville), M.J. Walker (Florida State), Kihei Clark (Virginia) and Wendell Moore Jr. (Duke).

The 6’0″ senior averaged 16.0 points per game as he helped the Yellow Jackets to finish fifth in the conference standings last season. Alvarado also led the conference in steals (2.37 per game) and finished in the top 10 in field goal percentage (46.5%) and assists per game (4.32).

The Yellow Jackets were projected to finish 9th in the preseason conference standings. Even though the team finished seven spots higher than last season’s preseason conference predictions and returned four starters, the Yellow Jackets finished two points behind North Carolina State.

The voting was conducted by 155 members of the ACC media. Here are some of the preseason award winners:

Player of the Year: Garrison Brooks, Forward North Carolina

Freshman of the Year: Scottie Barnes, Guard Florida State

All ACC 1st Team- Scottie Barnes (Florida State), Sam Houser (Virginia), Jalen Johnson (Duke), Aamir Simms (Clemson) and Chris Lykes (Miami)
