- Cameron Ward And The Offense Shine In Last Preseason Game For The Titans - August 23, 2025
Nashville, TN – Nothing is better than home cooking and the Tennessee Titans got some of that this week as they closed out the preseason at home with a 23-13 win against the Minnesota Vikings.
The game marks their only home game of the preseason.
Overview
This was the polar opposite of week two where the defense dominated. The offense for Tennessee put on their showcase against their toughest test of the preseason, a Brian Flores led defense.
Cameron Ward had another solid performance posting a three-for-four, 36-yard stat line. He led the Titans on a 13-play, 85-yard drive that ended in a Julius Chestnut touchdown.
It was his second such drive of the preseason for a touchdown and a hopeful sign of things to come.
The offensive line opened lanes for the running backs all night and the team totaled 137 yards on the ground. Both Kalel Mullings and Julius Chestnut had good nights making it tough to narrow down the the third running back position for the coaching staff.
After a tough showing in Atlanta, veteran wide receiver Van Jefferson had a major bounce back. His three receptions for 102 yards led the team and was highlighted by a 65-yard catch and run for a touchdown in the second quarter.
Wide receivers Bryce Oliver and Elic Ayomanor also made cases to make the roster by combining for 52 yards on six receptions on the night.
Defensively, the Titans were suffocating yet again, stacking back-to-back performances. Like last week, Cedric Gray started next to Cody Barton and posted another impressive performance.
Fellow second-year man James Williams got involved with two tackles and the team’s lone turnover on the night.
Positives
– Ward’s Emergence As A Leader: Ward led his second scoring drive of the preseason and earned confidence from his teammates.
-Red Zone Efficiency: Tennessee was two-for-three on red zone trips in the game, coming away with 10 points.
-Defense Wins Games: Defense forced a turnover and held the Vikings to just 13 points on the night.
Negatives:

-Penalty Box: The team committed seven penalties for 55 yards in the game.
The team finished 2-1 in the preseason. Tennessee will now have two weeks to prepare for their road game against the Denver Broncos at Mile High Stadium.
