Todd McClure Joins The Falcons’ Organization

The Atlanta Falcons are continuing a trend of placing familiar faces in leadership roles. After hiring former quarterback Matt Ryan as President of Football Operations and Kevin Winston as Vice President of Player Affairs, they bring in former longtime center Todd McClure as Coordinator of Player Development and Senior Personnel Assistant.

Drafted by the Falcons in the seventh round out of LSU in 1999, McClure, also known as “Mud Duck,” spent 14 years in Atlanta, making 195 career starts. He anchored the team’s offensive line through the franchise’s most successful era, blocking for Falcons icons including Ryan, Michael Vick, Michael Turner and Warrick Dunn.

It is not much of a surprise that McClure has rejoined the organization in some capacity. He has remained active with the team, making several guest training camp appearances, along with regular appearances at Falcons home games.

Shortly after his retirement in 2013, owner Arthur Blank declared that McClure would be inducted into the Atlanta Falcons Ring of Honor, which eventually happened in 2022.

Currently, it is not clear what McClure’s exact role will entail, but according to a statement from the team, he will “support the club’s player development program by coordinating cross-functional initiatives and assisting football leadership with player-focused and strategic projects.”

The Louisiana native has found a home in Atlanta and is looking to help his former team return to playoff contention, a place they have not reached in nearly a decade.
