LOS ANGELES, CA – August 15, 2017 BIG3 announced today that recent Ball Hogs addition Xavier Silas has been named player of the week following a dominant performance that led Rick Barry’s team to an upset victory over Allen Iverson’s 3’s Company. Ball Hogs came into the week with the worst record in the league only to ruin 3’s Company’s post-season hopes in front of more than 10,000 fans at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles on Sunday.

Silas, the 4th pick in the 2017 BIG3 Draft who was later acquired by the Ball Hogs in a trade that sent Dominic McGuire to Tri-State in July, dropped 20 points, connecting on three 3-pointers and a 4-point shot at a crucial moment late in the game. Down 47-44, Silas hit the clutch 4-pointer (only the 2nd of the day among all players) to put his team up 48-47. Silas then grabbed a loose ball and dished it off to Derrick Byars who drove to the lane and flipped the ball to Josh Childress who laid it in for the win. Silas also contributed 5 rebounds.

In trading for Silas, Ball Hogs added a quick point guard to complement the scoring and athleticism of Derrick Byars and Rasual Butler. Since joining the team, Silas has averaged 13.4 points (including a total of seven 3-pointers and two 4-pointers) and 3 rebounds per game.

Next weekend, professional basketball returns to Seattle on Sunday, August 20 when all eight BIG3 teams head to KeyArena for playoff games that will see Trilogy (1 seed) take on Ghost Ballers (4 seed) and 3 Headed Monsters (2 seed) take on Power (3 seed). Killer 3’s will also play Ball Hogs and Tri-State will pay 3’s Company to determine final standings positioning. The first-ever BIG3 championship game will be played in Las Vegas on Saturday, August 26 and will be broadcasted Live on FOX at 1:30p PST / 4:30p EST.
