ATLANTA (July 7, 2017) – Major League Soccer today announced that midfielder Miguel Almirón and defender Greg Garza were named to the 2017 MLS All-Star Fan XI presented by Target. The 2017 MLS All-Star Game will take place Aug. 2 at Chicago’s Soldier Field when the league’s best take on reigning La Liga and UEFA Champions League winners Real Madrid.
Almirón has scored eight goals and added eight assists on the season. The Paraguayan international was twice named MLS Player of the Week and was also named to the MLS Team of the Week on five occasions. Garza has scored one goal and recorded two assists while contributing to four clean sheets this season. He has twice been named to the MLS Team of the Week.
In addition to the Fan XI, MLS Commissioner Don Garber will select two Commissioner’s Picks and Chicago Fire and All-Star team head coach Veljko Paunovic will complete the All-Star Game roster.
