Atlanta United Wins In A Heated Battle Against New York City FC

Atlanta- In a heated contest, Atlanta United FC (5-4-3) gets the best of New York City FC (6-5-2) 3-1.

From the start, NYC FC was on attack creating opportunities getting inside the 17 -yard box but only came up with one shot on goal.

Atlanta got on the attack and midfielder Miguel Almiron scored on a straight end goal off the assist from #24 Julian Gressel in the 15th minute.

In the 19th minute United marched down the final-third of the field and #15 Hector Villalba scored from a kick in the corner of the net to give the United a 2-0 lead.

Atlanta kept the fast pace and the combo Gressel to Alimiron struct once again on an open net after Gressel was able to draw the goalie attention to the corner of the net.

In the 35th minute, Atlanta’s captain Michael Pankhurst was issued a yellow card for an attempted tackle.

At the end of the first half, United had three shots on target which was all goals and NYC had two.

In the 65th minute, Carlos Carmona got a yellow card for getting into it with a few of the NYC players including pushing a player.

The defense of United was very stiff and as aggressive as they were on offense, they were even more aggressive on defense not allowing NYC many scoring chances.

NYC finally got on the board with a goal in the 71st minute by Jack Harrison. He was set up by Ben Sweat.
