College Football Top Ten (Week 14) – Clarity At Last

It’s been a fun college football season. But now all the speculation is over after the conference championships were played. There should be no arguments about the top four playoff teams or the order. Here is the final Top Ten rankings:

 

1. Alabama Crimson Tide (12-1) defeated then #1 Georgia Bulldogs 41-24

The Crimson Tide took it to the Bulldogs to get the win. Quarterback Bryce Young was sensational, going 26-44 for 421 yards and three touchdowns. Wide receivers Jameson Williams (184 receiving yards/two touchdowns) and John Metchie III (97 receiving yards/one touchdown) were a problem for Georgia’s secondary. The defense held up, forcing two turnovers and had three sacks.

Next game- vs. #4 Cincinnati Bearcats

 

2. Michigan Wolverines (12-1) defeated then #14 Penn State Nittany Lions 42-3

The Wolverines crushed the Hawkeyes for the victory. Quarterback Cade McNamara went 16-24 for 169 yards with a touchdown and an interception. The defense held Iowa under 300 total yards and forced a turnover.

Next game- vs. #3 Georgia Bulldogs

 

3. Georgia Bulldogs (12-1) lost to then #2 Alabama Crimson Tide 41-24

The Bulldogs couldn’t get over the hump against the Crimson Tide in the loss. Quarterback Stetson Bennett went 29-48 for 340 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions. Tight end Brock Bowers had 139 receiving yards and a touchdown. The normally stout defense couldn’t stop Alabama’s passing attack.

4. Cincinnati Bearcats (13-0) defeated then #7 Houston Cougars 35-20

The Bearcats used a big scoring third quarter against the Cougars to get the win. Quarterback Desmond Ridder was efficient, going 11-17 for 190 yards and three touchdowns. Running back Jerome Ford was a workhorse, running for 187 yards and three touchdowns. The defense forced a turnover and had eight sacks.

5. Notre Dame Fighting Irish (11-1) Regular season over

Next game- vs.#12 Oklahoma State Cowboys

 

6.  Baylor Bears (11-2) defeated then #7 Oklahoma State Cowboys 21-16

The Bears hung on against the Cowboys for the victory. Quarterback Blake Shapen was sharp, going 23-28 for 180 yards and three touchdowns. The defense forced four turnovers and had two sacks.

7. Ohio State Buckeyes (10-2) Regular season over

9. Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (12-1) defeated Appalachian State Mountaineers 24-16

The Ragin Cajuns were steady against the Mountaineers to get the win. Quarterback Levi Lewis went 15-30 for 210 yards and a touchdown. Running back Emani Bailey ran for 117 yards and a touchdown. The defense held Appalachian State under 300 total yards, forced a turnover and had three sacks.

10. Pittsburgh Panthers (11-2) defeated then #16 Wake Forest Deacon Demons 45-21

The Panthers consistently scored to put away the Deacon Demons for the victory. Quarterback Kenny Pickett went 20-33 for 253 yards and three touchdowns. Wide receiver Jordan Addison had 126 receiving yards. The defense held Wake Forest under 300 total yards, forced four turnovers and had five sacks.
