NFL Power Rankings Week 4 – Well Known Mysteries

In the event that we all think we know what’s going on, the NFL has always been known for killing that notion. When other leagues come straight at you, the NFL is known for throwing curve balls. We have to start realizing that we know very little about what’s goes on the league these days.

 

1.) Buffalo Bills (3-0)
Buffalo has won all three of it’s games in three different ways. On Sunday it was the terrible offensive game (five turnovers) that they grinded through and somehow came away with the victory,

 

2.) San Francisco 49ers (3-0)
Despite their close game against Arizona, the 49ers have looked dominant so far this season. San Francisco is ranked second in total points scored and third in total points allowed.

 

3.) Kansas City Chiefs (3-0)
The Chiefs dominated the struggling Miami Dolphins over the weekend, making it look like a tune up match. Three out of their next four opponents have a winning record.

 

4.) Minnesota Vikings (3-0)
The Minnesota has moved on from quarterback J.J. McCarthy after trading him to the New York Giants. After acquiring Kyler Murray in the offseason and Carson Wentz looking solid in back up duty, there was little room for McCarthy on the roster.

 

5.) Baltimore Ravens (2-1)
There’s apparently no time constraints on Lamar Jackson’s ability to make great plays, he’s good until the last second. Over the past two full seasons, Baltimore has played a total of one overtime game.

 

6.) Las Vegas Raiders (3-0)
The most surprising team in the NFL has to be the Raiders. They’ve literally went from worst team in the league to one of the best. They’ll get a big test this week at home against Kansas City.

 

7.) Seattle Seahawks (2-1)
The Seahawks have the quietest title-defense in NFL history. Well that’s just my opinion, but a team that opened the season on national television and has scored over 30 points the last two weeks should be making more noise.

 

8.) Chicago Bears (2-1)
Ben Johnson’s offensive scheme is so good, he was able to plug in Case Keenum at quarterback and not miss a beat. 247 passing yards and three total touchdowns for the 12-year veteran is pretty good.

 

9.) Detroit Lions (2-1)
Jahmyr Gibbs has six touchdowns from scrimmage in three games. If he keeps this pace up, he’ll finish the season with 34 touchdowns which would break the NFL record.

 

10.) Jacksonville Jaguars (2-1)
The Jaguars give up an average of 12.0 points per game which ranks them first in the NFL. They lead the league in interceptions with four and they’ve recorded six total turnovers this season.

 

11.) Denver Broncos (2-1)
Bo Nix has 11 fourth quarter comebacks in his short NFL career. The Broncos scored 30 points in the second half on Sunday, marking the second time they’ve done that when trailing at half in Nix’s career.

 

12.) Philadelphia Eagles (2-1)
The Eagles barely pulled the game out in Week 2 and then got the breaks beat off of them in Week 3. They have turned the ball over a total of five times in the those two games.

 

13.) Cincinnati Bengals (2-1)
Pro Football Focus ranks the Cincinnati offensive line at 15th overall and they need to be better. Joe Burrow is being hit on 20.5% of his drop backs, which is the highest rate of his career according to NFL next Gen. Stats.

 

14.) New York Giants (2-1)
The Giants took two looks at Jameis Winston as their starting quarterback and thought, they need to add another body to the position. You have to assume newly acquired J.J. McCarthy will start at some point this season.

 

15.) Pittsburgh Steelers (2-1)
The Steelers rank third in the NFL with six takeaways through three games. The Steelers have a winning record despite being outscored by their opponents 60-53 on the season.

 

16.) Cleveland Browns (2-1)
The Browns have won two games in a row, outscoring their opponents 44-37 during that stretch. It marks the first time Cleveland has been on a win streak since December of 2023.

 

17.) New Orleans Saints (1-2)
All of the Saints games have finished within one score against all of their opponents this season. Their total point differential on the season is -2.

 

18.)  Los Angeles Rams (1-2)
After all the noise made in the offseason, the Rams are struggling so far. They were great at stopping teams in the fourth quarter until giving up a whopping 30 points in second half including 14 points in the final quarter to Denver.

 

19.) Carolina Panthers (1-2)
Carolina has now lost in a blowout, won in a blowout and lost in a close game. This team needs to find some consistency to win.

 

20.) Dallas Cowboys (1-2)
The saying “Dallas will Dallas” has never rung more true than their past defeat at the hands of the Ravens. How could one organization fall into these types of late game situations so often?

 

21.) Atlanta Falcons (1-2)
With the return of legitimate quarterback play, the Falcons’ offense looked like a buzzsaw through the Green Bay Packers’ defense. After a horrible start to the season, Atlanta could be playing for first place in their division on Monday night.

 

22.) New England Patriots (1-2)
After nearly winning the MVP a season ago, Drake Maye has had a terrible start to this season. I don’t know if its due to the shuffling of the offensive line or his un-familiarity with some of his new wide receivers, but something has to change or New England is in for a long season.

 

23.) Indianapolis Colts (1-2)
The Colts have given up a massive 1,252 yards from scrimmage on defense. Their game against Houston marked the first time this year they didn’t allow 500 yards of offense in a game.

 

24.) Arizona Cardinals (1-2)
Arizona has to get off to better starts if they want to win more games this season. They have scored a total of seven (seven!) points in the first quarter through three games this season.

 

25.) New York Jets (1-2)
The Jets faced a 14-point deficit against Detroit and came roaring back to tie the game. They just couldn’t pull out the victory in the end. They have lost the last two games with legitimate chances to win.

26.) The Washington Commanders (1-2)
The Marcus Mariota-led Commanders pulled out their first win of the season. Sunday marked the 11th time that Mariota has thrown for three or more touchdown passes in his career.

 

27.) Green Bay Packers (1-2)
Green Bay is not the worst team on this list. They’re probably the team playing the worst when you consider their personnel, but for right now with their lone win, we’ll keep them out of the bottom spot.

 

28.) Houston Texans (0-3)
The troubling winless start for the Texans seems to be from a few sources. One thing is for certain, this team has struggled to run the football. They’re averaging 84.6 yards per game which ranks 30th in the NFL.

 

29.) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-3)
Baker Mayfield suffered a dislocated thumb during their loss to Minnesota. Jalon Daniels will get the nod to start this weekend. He has impressed the team during training camp, preseason and at practice.

 

30.) Los Angeles Chargers (0-3)
The Chargers are directly contending with Green Bay as the team playing the worst (considering their personnel).

 

31.) Tennessee Titans (0-3)
Tennessee is currently ranked 30th in total points scored and 31st in total yards from scrimmage, Their defense is significantly better, ranking tenth in both total points allowed and total yards allowed.

 

32.) Miami Dolphins (0-3)
The Dolphins have lost star running back De’Von Achane for the season with a torn ACL. The Dolphins had their highest rushing total of the season on Sunday with 119 yards,
